My Valentines present from my partner was to get my hair coloured from brunette to blonde. After…read morebooking with another salon, I found a voucher on a daily deals website for a full head of foils, cut & blow-dry at Paris Pearl. I thought ''excellent! Save half the cost''
On the night of the appointment I went in with my boyfriend and showed the hairdresser a photo of me a few years back on what colour blonde I wanted. She said that's fine, a bit of my darker colour would come through though. I was ok with this.
3 hours later at 9pm and I was all done. After we left, my boyfriend said he expected a lot blonder than what I got. The next day in the natural light I was very disappointed with the result. The shade of blonde I had was no-where near the shade of blonde in the photo that I was expecting.
At work, one of my colleagues lifted my hair & said that you could see the horizontal stripes where the foils were, it looked all over very stripey & I should go back. On Saturday I consulted with a hairdresser in the original salon I booked, and she suggested I go back & ask them to fix it, she said the same thing, that it was very stripey & blotches of blonde everywhere when I put my hair back & the foils had ''bled' because they were put too close to the scalp.
My boyfriend & I went back to Paris Pearl & spoke to the girl who did my hair. I told her I wasn't happy with the end result, and showed her the photo that I showed her on the night of the booking. She explained that as I had a boxed colour in my hair, this would involve a colour correction (which she did not mention on the night of the appointment) and it would require two tone foils which she said was not part of the offer. (The voucher T&C's did not mention anything about only one tone allowed). She was worried that since my hair was so thin, putting a bleach blonde colour in and that I had a boxed colour in my hair, if she did the shade I requested my hair would snap off to about 5cm in length. I WAS NOT ADVISED ANY OF THIS ON THE NIGHT OF MY BOOKING
There was another hairdresser there, who took photo's of my hair, both with it down, and pulled back. My boyfriend pulled a section of my hair back to assist with the photo's.
My hairdresser said she could not make any decisions on what the resolution would be, she would have to speak to her manager. I left my contact details & we left the salon.
About half an hour later, on Saturday afternoon I got a call from the manager. She introduced herself & said ''I understand there was a song & dance this morning about your hair colour'' I replied ''well not really a song & dance, I am just not happy with the result of my hair'' and begun to explain the
situation. She then went on the rattle off a whole heap of statistics on how many of these deal vouchers they do, other statistics about the salon. She then said that my boyfriend was pushing my hair around pointing out what was wrong with the colour. I corrected her, that he merely lifted a section of my hair
to get a good shot when the girl was taking photo's.
She then proceeded to say to me ''maybe you were listening to the opinion of your boyfriend instead of your own opinion. Whatever you have going on between the two of you is your business''
Needless to say I was shocked, insulted & appalled on a personal attack on myself & my boyfriend!
The phone conversation continued very one sided, with the manager offering me a full refund straight away without an offer to fix my hair. She continued to talk over me whenever I tried to say something, saying that they had won multiple awards & are a very community based business.
She said that there is a cheque waiting at reception for me for a full refund & that was the end of the discussion. She said goodbye before I could say anything.
We went back to the salon straight away to collect the refund check. As soon as we arrived, the manager came out, as well as the 2 hairdressers we spoke to earlier that day, as well as the managers son. We felt like this was an intimidation tactic incase we made any trouble!!
Whilst she was writing the check, she looked at my hair (which was pulled back showing the terrible stripes) and shook her head. Whether that was in disbelief that I had the nerve to complain, or in disbelief that such a bad job had been done.
Needless to say I will NEVER recommend PARIS PEARL to anyone who asks, and by the ''service'' I received by the manager because shock! Horror! I decided to speak up, I urge anyone to steer clear.
