I came here for a haircut because I thought the theme was pretty cool. My haircut was meh but the barber and front desk lady were nice. If you come here before 11 AM you won't get a drink but you'll still pay $58 for the cut/drink. When taking into account a drink, $58 isn't bad. Just make sure you book at 11 AM or later. read more

Well, I found this place a couple of weeks ago while driving to my friends house in the NOMA area. It seemed pretty decent. I usually go to sport clips and the one at Columbia Heights seemed to have closed as it won't show up anymore in google. So I thought I should try this place instead. I made online reservation two days before my haircut. They have discounts for first time visitors. I did the basic one for $48. It comes with warm towel service, shampoo , haircut and styling. Also one free cocktail of your choice. I guess the cocktail is for first time visitor only. Haircut was nice. I really wish they offered to shampoo my hair after the haircut. They do it before. Not sure why. I like the way sport clips do it. They make sure that you have no hair anywhere on your clothes or the shoulder area. If this place can do that; they will get 5 stars from me. I thought I would leave a positive review because I almost didn't go because of the lowish yelp rating. I had no wait time, was greeted very friendly by a host upon my arrival. Place was clean and I really enjoyed the decor. Terri was hairdresser. I am new to the area and have got my haircut by the same person for 6 years. I was extremely vague with my directions and she was very patient and just kinda went with the flow. Had a break at work and made the appointment with Hawk for a cut. Did not disappoint. Great location with tastefully appointed furniture. Hawk walked me thru and really discussed and took in what I wanted. After a great hot towel and wash, Hawk did a great job and I am psyched to have a new barber close to work. read more

Ricky hooked me up with a great haircut for the summer. The facility was nice and clean and the haircut features a shampoo and hot towel treatment. Their prices are a little high. They do throw in a complimentary drink though which is nice. Great service and friendly staff but it is a little pricey on that end. read more

Great first experience at S&S. I have heard of this concept for many years and got the chance to pop in. The new location in Lenexa is very spacious with great service. Scam. Be careful. They advertise a $38 haircut but make you go through setting up and account before you can book. It's only once you go through all that when they reveal - oh sorry it's $58. Do the math and that's 52% higher actual price than the listed price. This is not ok - it's an unconscionable business practice. And yes, we know different stylists might price more but let's be clear: it listed me options for 6 stylists, all of them were $58. You can't advertise a price which isn't available. Lastly to add, I would've preferred to raise this direct to the business but they have no way of contacting listed on their website (no email, no socials). I explained to him I'm a little more than 2 months out from my wedding and trying to get my beard looking right. Have been coming here for a while and had a subscription, my go-to barber Lamont got upgraded to the next level (increasing the costs) and somehow his service declined drastically. Not only was he very rough with his clippers, he disregarded my request to keep my hair at eyebrow length and cut it over 4 inches too short. My hairstyle has never changed and he has cut it over 3 times and not sure what happened this time, but so upset that I cancelled my membership with a full cut left and I will not return. read more

I've been going to barber a long time and this was one of the worst. First time there, 40 Plus minute delay. The bar service was decent and accommodating due to the cut service. first set of trimmers were off and snagging hair at every stroke she rushed through. Scissor work was the same and haphazardly done. When it came time for the razor work, less than ideal. Missed patches all over the neck and and back edge. For a GM, as she labeled herself I would expect a far better outcome and not the example I'd like if I was an investor in the brand. Checking phones and letting clients wait for extended periods in the chair and in the lounge with no contact is poor service. It was poor quality at any level and for any true barber fan do not waste your money. $120 for 35 minutes, no clean lines, no wash nothing close to the description of the service. Again, if your investing don't at this point. Go for a drink and nothing more. read more

Really enjoy coming here since my barber is amazing. Highly recommend asking for Arlene. Knows what you want. She also really understands you; for example, if you're having a bad day and not in the mood to talk she'll accommodate or if you're having a great day she will hold conversations the entire time. My appointment was scheduled for 7/30/2021. This review is based on customer service and not the haircut since I didn't get one. I walked in and checked in at the front desk. The receptionist told me to go to the bar for the drink. I did that and waited while the bartender walked back and forth behind the bar polishing glasses and watching the game on the overhead TV rather than attending to the customers. There was one other person at the bar with an empty drink. Another guy came in after me, sat down and was promptly served. This is a ten or so seat small bar and he made eye contact three times as he walk behind the bar but chose to never serve me. From what I experienced, this place has nothing but attitude. I originally had high hopes for getting my first haircut at Scissors and Scotch, after it recently opened in Union Market. I made an appointment for a haircut and arrived 5 minutes early. I was told by the receptionist that I'd be seen in about 5 minutes. I waited 45 minutes in the bar area with no updates from the staff and eventually decided to leave. Scissors and Scotch will not be receiving my business in the future. For a business that charges the rates they do, they'll need to improve their customer service if they'd like to make it in DC. read more
