Dr. Schwope has been my wife's MD and she delivered our baby. Prior to moving to San Antonio, we lived out of the country. By telephone, her office agreed to see my wife during a return U.S. visit and they set up all the needed appointments and tests with Dr. Schwope and a maternal fetal medicine MD in advance.
FYI-Dr. Schwope has great academic credentials as she went to Yale and the Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Schwope is SUPER nice and personable. We feel very fortunate to have found her. My wife is sad that we are moving to El Paso, otherwise she would keep seeing her forever. The wait times are usually reasonable, even if the lobby is often packed. Dr. Schwope is very patient during the actual appointment. HIGHLY recommended.
Although St. Luke's is more accessible to her office for the baby delivery, we would select Methodist if doing it again (Dr. Schwope delivers at both places). St. Luke's needs to step it up if it wants to attract affluent families. It is kind of behind the times. Our baby didn't stay in the nursery, which was packed and seemed a little out of control at times. They don't do everything in the deliver or mother's room, so baby was forced to go to nursery for about 1.5 hrs. for 15 actual minutes of cleanup (BRUTAL), and I had to force them to allow me to accompany him in there. Birthing experience in Chicago was BETTER. Regardless, Dr. Schwope was great. read more
