We visited the nearby hot springs, which were a little lackluster, but the campsite, the river and the blue pool itself were to die for. The campsites right along the river are technically walk in, but the walk is incredibly short and 100% worth it. We had a blast and fully intend to return!

This isn't a luxury park with water slides or lazy rivers but this is the place if you want to relax and enjoy nature. It is lovely park with grass, trees and a creek. There are trees and bushes between sites making you feel more private. Price is very good. It's easy to get to off I-5. There are big rig sites and many are extra long allowing you to stay hooked up in your site for a quick overnight. The most important, for me, is to support a family owned business and not a big corporation. Service is wonderful. They have a website and are so nice when you call because you prefer talking to a person. If they don't answer because there are out of the office, they call back which isn't always the case at other parks.

Went here with another couple in mid-september for a few days. If your looking to get 'off the…read moregrid', this is about the closest your going to get without dispersed camping. First off, this is a log shelter. There is a wood table inside, a small wood heating stove from the 1800's, and about a 6 foot wide "sleeping loft" that rests about two feet off the ground. Oh and the floor is gravel. This is not a vacation cabin. I thought it was heaven. It's about $40 a night rented through the forest service. Little pricey if you don't know what to expect. Also, follow the Forest Service directions. I didn't, and followed my GPS. It got me there 45 minutes earlier then expected. It also took me on NF 60. If you do not have a high clearance SUV or all wheel drive vehicle, DO NOT take this road. If you do, TAKE THIS ROAD. So much fun. Stupid fun. Otherwise, the Forest Service directions can get a Prius to the lake. Just takes more time. The websites description is spot on. Bring EVERYTHING. There is no running water. There is a campground a quarter mile away that has a pump, it didn't produce any drinking water. Pro's: You are secluded, 100 feet from a lake. In the middle of no where. Cons: NOTHING. There is a plethora of hiking in the area. I recommend the hike into indigo lake, and from there summit Cowhorn mountain. It's about 8 miles round trip from the cabin, and worth it. If you don't find the view breathtaking, you have no soul. The lake is stocked with brook and cutthroat trout. If you go fishing, be prepared to be bored. It seemed like every thirty seconds I was reeling in a new fish. Sheer insanity. As far as swimming, it's a cascade lake, at 5300 feet. You know the risks. Surprisingly though, it wasn't freezing. Skinny dipping is an option. Again, you know the risks. It was 85 degrees during the day in mid-september, and about 32 degrees at night. (not kidding). Never saw a mosquito. We did everything from clay pigeon shooting, fishing, hiking, astronomy, to just getting lost in the woods Bear Grylls style. Even though there's another camp ground nearby, we never saw a soul. I will be going back here. Oh, the deer are suicidal. Drive carefully. FYI.

Last night our family began a new and extra special annual tradition. Half a million lights,…read moreholiday vendors, live music and Santa brought this simple and comfortable hotel to a grand level. Sipping hot chocolate while walking paths surrounded by sparkling lit scenes made for a great evening. Adding to our fun was a very good dinner in the hotel's comfortable restaurant. Our rooms were simple, clean, and close to the on-site event. The free continental breakfast was also terrific. The make yourself waffles are terrific. We had a great stay. We will plan on making this an annual event for our family.
