I visited Plant Land for the first time in early June (noting that for selection reasons). A friend…read morerecommended I check it out! Overall I was expecting "more" from the shopping visit. I came with a particular need in mind, shade annuals to plant in a specific area. I assumed going to a local business rather than a chain would entail more of a personal touch but I didn't get that. The two employees greeted me but didn't ask if I needed any help so I figured I'd just roam around and see what I could find. I didn't think the types of plants were labeled very well, so I ended up back at the register to ask for advice. After I interrupted her reading a magazine, the lady gave me a couple of suggestions and pointed to areas I could look but it would have been nice if she walked me to the spot and helped me look for what she recommended. She also mentioned they were out of the options that may be a good fit so I guess, come earlier than the first week of June for a full selection. We aren't all garden experts and I was hoping they would be. Anyway, I figured out what to get by reading the markers in the plants. I can't say for sure, but I feel like I was also overcharged for the plants I selected. You'll see in my picture but their pricing for most items is based on the size of the container. How do I know the guy who rang me up picked the right price? My receipt didn't provide details so I couldn't verify later. Anyway, I like the plants I selected but I don't think I'll return. I get more of a personal touch with plant advice from my local hardware store (though they have a limited selection).

Four your 7th plant, you got to choose between dahlias or fennel. I chose the fennel for mine. The class even had 2 instructors who explained every plant and continuously walked around to check on everyone's work, making sure your plants were planted deep enough, or not to shallow. The class was $55 pp. For their classes it is best to call to reserve a spot. This was my first time here and I was blown away by the size of this place. It was like a huge maze with several greenhouses. Their plants did look colorful and healthy. They are definitely family orientated so bring the kids. In one of the greenhouse, there is a huge train set that continuously runs through several model villages, hills, tunnels and landscapes. There is also a small cafe, where you can take a break, This is family owned and all plants are grown on site.

Oh and they also offer various garden services, events, and workshops. Certainly a big place too! Beyond the main building, we ventured into the train room that is incredible for all ages. The display is massive, surrounded by a walkway to make your way around. You really have to see if for yourself to grasp how vast and detailed it is. Definitely recommend coming by at some point to see the masterpiece in action. Love that it's locally owned, so well-kept, and very inviting. All of the staff are friendly and helpful as can be!

I could've stayed here for literally hours looking through everything! Rows and rows of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, you name it and all healthy with all of the areas very well maintained/ clean! You don't always see that when you go to a nursery/ greenhouse so I was very impressed with the care and selection I was seeing at Mileger's. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for help about the specific trellis we were on the hunt for but also just passing employees who were friendly/ chatty with us. Pricing here is comparable to other places I buy plants but with a better quality/ selection you'll find elsewhere. If you have a weakness for plants or fun garden/ home decor, I'd advise you to plan accordingly and carve out a good part of your day to putz around the grounds & store because there's SO much to see here! There's even a cafe with beverages and food in case you get hungry - and it smelled amazing! :)

Being a novice to gardening, I stumbled across Shady Acres when searching for family-owned area…read morenurseries and am I glad I did! Shady Acres is very nicely sized. You can see their entire selection from one end to the other, which is laid out exceptionally well with clearly marked sections. All of the plants are in alphabetical order throughout wide aisles. I am not one to trek through acres & acres of plants, only to get confused & tired. Plants are very competitively priced for the size and outstanding quality. They provide 2 sizes of wagons for your selections while you shop the well-kept grounds. They offer a nice selection of garden ornaments and their own gardens are very nice to walk through to get some great ideas for your own place. The staff are all very nice, helpful and pleasant. They listen to your needs and will direct you to all of the proper plants that are right for the areas you want to beautify. A special shout-out to Anna who always has the best advice for my very-pale green thumb. No matter if you're in the area or not, it is worth the drive. Highly recommended!
