Used and trusted MAG for almost 10 years, not anymore…read more Most recently we upgraded to the wifi Hunter system through MAG for about $400. During the time of the installation, since they charge you a service call anyway, we asked them to simply check the sprinkler heads to make sure that none were damaged or needed replacing, and the guy who installed the system said no problem, and told us they were all good. Two weeks later I noticed large burned areas of the lawn and when I inspected the sprinkler heads myself, they were clearly leaking water from the base and were damaged. We called and expressed our dissatisfaction with the fact that they were happy to sell us a $400 system upgrade, yet couldn't take the time to simply look at our sprinkler heads while they were there. Money was not a factor in this we agreed to pay for any new heads to be replaced and we were explicitly told that none needed to be replaced. When we pointed this out, they went on and on about how looking at sprinkler heads would be a separate service call and that this was just for the upgrade, but I cannot fathom someone installing a new control unit without checking the overall health of the system. What good is the $400 upgrade when your sprinkler heads are broken? That would be like taking your car in for new transmission and having the dealer send you out the door with flat tires, unprofessional and simply foolish. Another major problem with our experience with MAG was the fact that one side of our yard has been saturated with water for years, and we have had it looked at by MAG on several occasions thinking we had a leak in the sprinkler system only to be assured everything looked okay. Well, after changing to a different irrigation company that was HAPPY to have our business and happy to actually spend 20 minutes making sure the sprinkler heads were intact, the new company immediately discovered that it was the 8 leaking sprinkler valves that were causing the wetness issues in our yard for years now. He replaced the valves and the yard is already drying out. This is an unacceptable oversight as far as I'm concerned. I truly regret ever using MAG, and after sharing our experience with my neighbors, I'm hearing lot of the same issues. MAG wants to make quick money by turning your system off and on and upgrading your system, but don't expect them to have any kind of attention to detail with your system or your concerns...the minute you have an issue that requires any real work or rectification of a problem, it becomes some big argument. Not worth the time, not worth your peace. Do yourself a favor, skip the headache and find a company that actually values your business.

I specifically asked him to make sure the zone would not get the shed wet and he assured me it was'nt, He told me the heads were good! There are 3 that are badly leaking! I called him and he told me he would com the day before Memorial day or the day after, he was no show , I waited for him both days! I called him the next day and he won't answer the phone, He got the money and he is a HACk....I called another irrigation company and of course it cost me the money AGAIN! After being utterly crushed by a non-responsive company that made a come back! In the interim we hired someone recommended by a hack job handy man who is known for being a love ball but bad habit of Harry Houdini-ing when things don't suit him... Wound up with a county unionized average Joe (lovely guy but not this Joe because that guy turned out to be lazy, cut corners and not very good mowing, but I digress) - I turned to Yelp for recommendations. I wanted at least 3 quotes. In the meantime Tim Acton took over the lawn/landscape maintenance (they are the original landscapers for the property), and starting off on a better note. Very happy with them - so far - BUT after heart ache, getting quotes for work from more than one source is always recommended (particularly when they bother to SHOW UP!). Papa Joe is a super hard working guy, and delivers what he says he will. With an amazing personality and reasonable costs. Which makes decisions harder for me. So here's the deal: 1. He will be reasonable pricing. 2. He will respond, on time and communicate effectively 3. He will do what he will tell you he will. 4. Clean job and great pride in craftsmanship. So now, if I have to recommend? I am torn. Because both Tim A and Papa Joe are fantastic options. Now, lets see what the quotes for the staggered projects will look like. Because I have no doubt either will do an incredible job. I do know they both are for the long-lasting relationship.
