I don't understand this school, it's still very educational, but lacks in student needs and overall support.

Most children that attend can walk, ride their bikes, are picked up by a school bus or parents drop off. The environment gets the students ready for High School allowing them to have lockers, switch classes and start having responsibilities they didn't have in grade school. The teachers that I have encountered shows care and concern for their students. Sincerely, wanting to see them all succeed and prepare them for their next grade. They also have sports like any other school. Students are not able to participate if they do not maintain a certain grade average and attendance. If your child is absent, don't worry, you will get a call to find out why. You also have access to call or email your child teachers for any concerns. My son has moved on to High School but he visits on a regular to support the Volleyball team. At the end of the day... I don't have any children to attend Pontiac but I would recommend it for others.

It appears to be a fairly medium size school. Grades 9-12 School colors: white and purple They are KAHOKstrong! The school has several sponsors including Vatterott, Scott Credit Union and Anderson Hospital to name a few. The outside, Halls, gym and restrooms were clean and free of trash. I really don't have a reason to come here unless it's for a sporting event my child is participating in. The students/athletes that were in Attandance showed good sportsmanship to their team and components. I also notice that during the wrestling matches a few wrestling get nose bleeds. There was a nurse who attended to them. Cleaning the blood from their face and anywhere it may have landed on their or opponents bodies. She also clean the blood from the mat and immediately changed her gloves after each clean up.

He dreaded going to school and some of the teachers were not pleasant at all. The main kindergarten teacher seem to care more than others. I've witness teachers treating the little ones..for example by grabbing their arms forcibly and pulling on them back to the classroom while the kid is crying and screaming for his mother. Truthfully, I think they had too many kids in one class per teacher and some of the teachers were not able to control the kids. You're dealing with kids 5 and under...they're going to be wild. The class room sizes are kept small so each child gets that one on one help if needed. I love this school.
