SO much more than just a place for kids to 'make things' (although with the amazing facilities that includes a professional looking wood shop, craft supplies, various computer technology and lots of interesting spaces to dream, create and build- there's a great chance your kids will be making some cool stuff) it's more of an incubator for young people to learn how to support and be supported in their own personal paths. Kids are grouped roughly by age, and then work alongside adult mentors who help guide them through their projects or 'quests'. It's a really neat program and our child who is on the timid/shy side has really blossomed in this class that supports her love of creativity and learning while boosting her self esteem. She adores this class and the friends she's made there and can't wait to go every week. I highly recommend- and if you are interested in joining make sure you speak with the staff who can better explain the awesome ideas at play here- it's so much more than just a place to make things! A+++

My most favorite thing about it is that my child said "Mom, it's a judgment free zone." How amazing to have a creative space with amazing adult mentors who create a supportive environment where children PRACTICE EMPATHY through doing -- not just talking about it. I highly recommend Hackstudio -- we love it!

Music Institute of Chicago has two locations: Evanston and Chicago. My review is for the Chicago…read morelocations ((there are two buildings in Chicago at which lessons are given. Each building is near The Water Tower.) There a ton of options for piano instruction in Chicago, of them all (and I think that I've researched all of them), here's why I love M.I.C.: As an adult, you can have lessons at your level whatever it might be and receive supportive instruction. Lesson options are flexible. Many of the adults who take lessons travel or have unpredictable schedules and M.I.C. accommodates these adult realities. The teachers are professional musicians..not someone who plays guitar and can teach piano on the side. Many of the teachers are qualified as teachers for the RCM exams. These are internationally recognized exams that take the student from beginner to the most advanced levels. MIC offers musicianship classes, opportunities to take summer "piano camp" as an adult. There are many opportunities for performing and bonding with a community. The lessons aren't the cheapest in Chicago, however, if you have the desire to truly become a musician with the piano as your instrument, there is no better place than MIC.

It's not hard to get to and find parking, has a historic feel to it. The bathrooms are slightly difficult to navigate down the stairs with narrow in/out but that's how it is. It was nice to experience this space for variety and seeing more of the city.

I had stopped in on two other driving schools before choosing ADDS. One felt like a wrong fit,…read moremostly due to availability and the other (also in Evanston) had a front desk person who was condescending and gave what I knew was incorrect information. As an elderly woman, new to Illinois and not having driven for over a year, this challenge was almost overwhelming. From the minute I entered the office of ADDS, I felt comfortable. First contact was the very busy Kemyta, who was juggling phone, paperwork, walk-ins and still smiling. When she was free, she asked me a few questions, then showed me how to maneuver their website, which had practice tests and much other information. There was also a voice behind a partition - an instructor giving a lesson to a group of high school students. Kemyta and I discussed my tailored requirements including pick-up and drop-off as well as instruction for written test, driving test and all the crazy paperwork associated with an out-of-state elderly person licensing situation. Kemyta assured me that the owner Doug Whitmore, a retired state policeman, would lead me through the process. When I met Doug, I asked him to be very straightforward with criticisms because I wanted to get this right. In turn, he gave encouragement, precise feedback, directions and kindly-phrased criticisms. After each session, I received a detailed summary from Doug's wife Andrea, while Doug was off giving CDL lessons for truck drivers. Text messages and emails were answered in reasonable time. This group has so many dimensions but operates very compatibly. I was apprehensive about taking the test and asked if I should have one more lesson, but Doug said he thought I could pass and gave specific issues on which to focus. He easily could hae had another payment from me, but he took the high road (no pun intended). I passed all the testing and got a license. Yay! This company is like family. They care about your success, know what they are doing, kind, moral and truly a pleasure to work with.

So I waited over 1 year before reviewing Symbol Job training school…read more I have to say it was a really great place to learn an excellent foundation for the machinist industry. Paul was my shop teacher and he explained everything very well and I currently use it all on my job. I also like how they taught us a few side notes about finding the right job where you can learn and grow as a machinist. To date I am on my 4th job and here is why: 1st job was just an operator and they taught us to get into a place where you can learn instead of just making the same parts all day. The pay at $14/hour was OK so it was tempting to keep it but I'm glad I upgraded after 3 weeks. 2nd job was working on HAAS mills for $16/hour which is exactly what we learned on at Symbol so it was easy but I found it a little too easy. Just mass production and I also bought a house 1.5 hours away so I needed to change again after 4 months. 3rd job was where I really learned a lot. It was a small "Job Shop" with about 7 employees and we made very different parts all the time with tight tolerances. I made $15/hour here. We also had HAAS machines and used 4th axis turrets in them. They saw that I was a fast learner and I was ambitious to start learning Mastercam Programming and I got a good foundation in programming from that. Just like the instructors said, get the right job where you can learn. They got slow on work so I was laid off along with some others so I was only there for about 7 months. 4th job making $18/hour is setting up 5 axis machines making and mostly editing Mastercam programs to make adjustments in part dimensions although I need to take some of the online classes Mastercam offers for 5 Axis programming which is only $250/class but I want to push myself anyway. I see myself here for a while as it's an excellent skill to have with Mastercam AND 5 axis machines. Overall I got a much better foundation from Symbol than many of the other coworkers who either went to a different school or learned on the job. Obviously there is always more to learn and I don't know everything but Symbol got me started. Well worth the money. Get the right job where you can grow your skills and never stop learning.

Great school great teachers. They help with job placement and make sure you're set for success!read more

Their program gave me the credentials needed to land a great job at a physical rehabilitation hospital even though I lacked clinical experience. It's a concise, concentrated program that will get you quickly into the medical field. It's in depth, high quality, and comprehensive which will put you a cut above other CNAs.
