They don't do dental surgery there but referred me to Aloha Affordable Vet for her dental work. Which turned out great! OSPCA was so kind & helpful. They knew how stressed out Kili was as I had adopted her from them. Anytime I have questions regarding her care, they always have time to answer. Everyone of them! So grateful that they "saved" her as she was 11 years old when I adopted her. They are the only "no kill" shelter on the island! Highly recommend OSPCA for basic affordable vet care & animal adoption!

This is my honest review of OahuSPCA. Overall, I believe they are a good organization, and I…read moreappreciate that they took in my kittens when I could no longer keep them because my landlord did not allow pets. However, I do have one major concern. Last year, I surrendered my kittens to OahuSPCA and paid $150 per kitten with the understanding that they would be placed into loving, safe, and permanent homes. Earlier this year, I unexpectedly came across one of my former kittens on TikTok. I recognized him immediately and spoke with both the content creator and the current owner. I was told that she adopted him from the Hawaiian Humane Society in Ewa Beach, where he was housed alongside his three siblings. This was extremely upsetting and confusing to learn. I entrusted OahuSPCA with finding secure homes for them, so discovering that all four kittens ended up at the Hawaiian Humane Society left me feeling shocked and disappointed. I truly cared about those kittens and only wanted the best for them. Knowing they were transferred elsewhere, let alone the Hawaiian Humane Society, after I paid surrender fees and trusted they would be directly placed into homes has been very difficult for me to process. Don't get me wrong, I still think that OahuSPCA is okay, as they are a no-kill shelter, but they need to ensure NOT to place precious cats and dogs in the hands of the Hawaiian Humane Society, because of the history and treatment of unwanted animals, and overcrowding can lead them to put down unwanted and healthy animals.

There is plenty of parking available. The ladies at the front desk are always friendly and helpful during our visits. I really like that you can text the phone number and they will get back to you. Our favorite veterinarian on island, Dr. Peacott, has always been exceptional with our furry family members. He has treated us kindly, is very honest and upfront, he explains procedures and medications well, and he stays current on the literature for the best modalities in care. We are honored and grateful to have him as our family veterinarian.

My beloved BeBe struggled in his later years, & despite my efforts, I was unable to find a veterinarian I could fully trust. Sadly, he passed away from pancreatitis that went undiagnosed. The practice I saw, felt rushed & detached, and BeBe's (nor my) pain & distress were met with the concern, that was deserved. Losing BeBe under those circumstances left me heartbroken, carrying deep guilt. Years later, after adopting Buffy, history seemed at risk of repeating itself as he too faced health challenges in old age. Desperate to find better care, I found Dr. Tamura--and everything changed. Her knowledge & attentiveness were immediately evident. She quickly diagnosed Buffy with diabetes & patiently taught me how to monitor his glucose levels & administer insulin. Because of her guidance & care, Buffy went on to live a long, happy, & well-loved life. When the time came to say goodbye to Buffy, Dr. Tamura's compassion went far beyond medical care; it was unforgettable. She sat with me, encouraged Buffy to enjoy his favorite final meal--a personal pan pizza topping...and as Dr. Tamura gently administered the injections, she cried alongside me. That moment meant more than words can express. How many veterinarians share that depth of empathy and tenderness? After many years, I adopted my current pup, Chibi. I feel deeply reassured knowing Dr. Tamura & her amazing team (more like a family) are caring for her. Even now, commuting an hour from Honolulu even during rush hour, does not deter me. The trust, empathy, & quality of care there, are truly rare.
