Amazing new wine and dessert - windbeutel…read more This is a flaky pastry filled with whipped cream and asp berries. Maybe liken this to a Napoleon or brest pastry.....very refreshing! The wine was new and young - like a barrel tasting when the wine is not quite in its final form. This was so delish! Walking around the castle & grounds then enjoying a nice break....doesn't get better than this!

I traveled around Germany by rail and this station was the most impressive one…read more Arriving from Berlin, when I first stepped off of the train, I thought I arrived back 100 years ago. Very East German style, although they were destroyed during the WWII, they restored it so nicely, they kept the old charm. I was told this is the largest railway station in the world by square meters but they were designed well, it is easy to make it connection yet going downstairs, you get to enjoy good food and shopping (it's like a huge shopping mall). This station was perhaps cleanest hauptbanhof I've visited and felt very safe there. Buying tickets and getting information on kiosk was easy to navigate. They also have information center at the ground level if you prefer to speak in person. They also have signs throughout to tell you if trains are on time. Most delays I saw was 10 mins.

Man kann sich schon auch drinnen verlaufen, aber wen stört das schon beim ausgelassen feiern oder wenn man was leckeres zu schlürfen in der Hand hat? An heißen Sommertagen kann man ganz wundervoll in einem der kühlen Innenhöfe unter dem Sonnenschirm sitzen und die Ruhe genießen. EInfach zu erreichen, sowohl mit Auto als auch mit den Öffentlichen oder per Fahrrad. Über die Möglichkeiten für Menschen mit eingeschränktr Mobilität bin ich mir allerdings nicht so sicher, es gibt einen haufen Treppen... aber vllt. gibt es ja einen Aufzug den ich noch nicht entdeckt habe?

I stayed here during as part of a Company meeting that was held in nearby Leuna. The Hotel building…read morecomprises the original structure of the Zech'sche Palace built in 1782 and a newer wing. It's located in the center of town and across the street from the castle gardens and just few steps from the Merseburg Cathedral. Various restaurants are easily reached via a nice walk. I also enjoyed the outdoor patio area in front of the Hotel. The Hotel restaurant is to the left when you come in, with a small bar are right in front of you. To the right is check in. Breakfast (in the restaurant area) is a generous buffet, with all sorts of choices. On many mornings, I would come down early for coffee and a roll, do some work, and then return later to enjoy the morning meal with colleagues. I really appreciated the professional service provided by everyone working at the Hotel that I had contact. My room was a bit utilitarian, but very comfortable and functional. Temperature control was a bit mysterious, but an open window took care of that. Most importantly, I slept well, enjoyed the shower, and was able to work well off their Wi-Fi. The highlight for me was when Gayle arrived on Thursday night. My friend Vic obtained some flowers, and the restaurant provided a snack plate for her arrival (taxi from the Leipzig train station). I also saved a breakfast coupon for her, which she used after I left for work. Hotel staff confirmed the room number and immediately referred to her as Frau Brink. That's a fun switch from my occasional identification as Eric Vassar.

I did not notice if there was any heat, but there was no air conditioning. It was okay, though, because it was in the 50s - we were there in September 2015. Cracked the windows. The town is quiet and it was very nice. They have parking, but it's best to check in and then go park your car. They have a nice little bar and when I was there they had a pilsner from Chemnitz, Warsteiner pils, Kostritzer Schwarzbier, and a weizen bier in bottles. Breakfast is a nice spread. There's a nice park for walking right across from their front entrance, and it's very close to the Schloss (castle). That's worth a visit for sure.
