Overall, it's a great place to study, and having a Starbucks on-site is a nice bonus. It would earn a higher rating if not for the limited weekend hours: the library closes at 7:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, which can be frustrating when you're working on a major project or preparing for an exam.

Dear Pattee/Paterno: Your new website is the worst. It never works, the search engine is useless,…read moreyou have buried the links to electronic journal articles (what if I don't WANT to search "ProQuest?!) and counter-intuitively shrunk the size of the "My Account" link so that I inevitably cannot find it every time I'm on your site. I also can't get my GoogleScholar to sync back up with your atrotious and useless design. Did I mention you hardly ever work? The last five or six times I tried to look something up you were down; after it finally came back up you told me I was a "blocked user" so that I couldn't proceed any further than before. There is also this one REALLY MEAN girl who works at the check-out desk. Look, I love libraries, I really do. I actually USE the library quite frequently unlike a majority of my students who don't even know where it is. But you have to get rid of that miserable woman, she doesn't even look you in the face when you walk up to the desk. Last, your hours SUCK! Never in my life have I gone to a University with SUCKY hours! And I've been enrolled in far crappier schools; if you wonder why Penn State has a drinking problem, maybe it's because you've created a climate where no one is able to study where they need after 9pm on a damn weekend. Maybe I need to check out books after midnight?

The librarians were so pleasant and the ambience is wonderful for a library with lots of places to sit and read/do research. I noticed a good number of people coming and going and it seems that the roomy children's section was being well utilized during my visit. There are also several boxes of free books available when you first come in, too! I am a big proponent of libraries so I am very glad to see this library in good use! :)

It's…read moreamazing how students have to learn to manage their time in school and also learn to organize their belongings to fit in their parents' vehicles at the end of the school year. The campus provides a large wheeled bin to help students carry their belongings from the dorm to their cars. You must sign the bin out and return it by a certain time; otherwise, you will be charged a late return fee. There is a donation room designated for usable items you no longer want or need. The donated items go to the local Goodwill. The PSU campus police don't issue tickets to non-registered cars during the move-out period as long as you put on your flashers. Bottom line: that dorm room assigned to you better look like the day you moved in, or the student/parents will receive a bill for trash left behind, items left in the room, and anything damaged.

The front desk person was very soft spoken and pleasant. I didn't feel judged for my library card shortcomings. After the documents were printed, they let my partner pay for them but wouldn't release them to them. That feels very professional and secure. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet save for the occasional excited toddler bouncing around. There's the bookery which is not only clean and cozy but stunningly fancy looking, kind of like a little palace. Items bought there are yours to keep. The prices are more than reasonable, some of the stuff is antiques. There's a teen wing, non-fiction, a chess board, dvds, sensory items, and a few free shelves. But so much more! There's useful documents everywhere, from a library-offered self-guided scavenger hunt to incredibly helpful mental health resources. Bathrooms are clean and open to the public. I recommend the summer reading program for kids, mine did it for a few years. It's incredibly rewarding for them. Bosler will always be my favorite library. Maybe I'm biased, but I think it deserves every bit of its praise. I will always go here.

The library was named after Amelia S Givin, obviously the benefactress of the library and a woman in the paper industry ahead of the time which was dominated by men. Inside one can see "groups of semicircular arched windows, intricate carvings, and a semicircular apse". The latter is my favorite room, sporting 2 wheeled ladders attached to the rail on the wall. The ambiance of this place is unmatched - it is saturated with character and will take you back to the days when information was housed in physical books and you had to search for it, instead of having it at your fingertips online. I held a book of poetry from the 1800s in my hands, and it was housed on an adorable shelf with a whole set of the books that were in the original library back before the turn of the 20th century. It's a unique combination of small and homey, while also being quite large.
