I absolutely love the fact that they have a cafe attached to it, but it can definitely be confusing for a freshmen ( ive given one wrong directions thru the stacks, it was kinda fun :) ) LOL.. Jokes aside, there is always a quite nook or cranny ( if u look hard enough) , so that you can study. I usually go to the buisness floor to study over the weekends ( cause i know all the buisness majors are busy drinking starting thursday) :-) I havent really used their website much, so i cant comment much on that. Many many computers throughout the library,even in the stacks, which i think is awesome :-). They are usually not very anal about food if you bring something reasonable ( sandwich or something.. dont bring in thai curry or a pie of pizza, thats just rude guys)... although i do know that sometimes people order food and get it delivered to the library.. and they just eat in the student lounge in the basement. Love this place and im gonna miss it when im gone!!

The website can be a bit confusing, but the staff are consistently kind and helpful. The option to…read morereserve books online and pick them up in person is especially convenient. Overall, it's a great place to study, and having a Starbucks on-site is a nice bonus. It would earn a higher rating if not for the limited weekend hours: the library closes at 7:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, which can be frustrating when you're working on a major project or preparing for an exam.

The librarians were so pleasant and the ambience is wonderful for a library with lots of places to sit and read/do research. I noticed a good number of people coming and going and it seems that the roomy children's section was being well utilized during my visit. There are also several boxes of free books available when you first come in, too! I am a big proponent of libraries so I am very glad to see this library in good use! :)

It's the end of the year at PSU, so it's move-out day. It's…read moreamazing how students have to learn to manage their time in school and also learn to organize their belongings to fit in their parents' vehicles at the end of the school year. The campus provides a large wheeled bin to help students carry their belongings from the dorm to their cars. You must sign the bin out and return it by a certain time; otherwise, you will be charged a late return fee. There is a donation room designated for usable items you no longer want or need. The donated items go to the local Goodwill. The PSU campus police don't issue tickets to non-registered cars during the move-out period as long as you put on your flashers. Bottom line: that dorm room assigned to you better look like the day you moved in, or the student/parents will receive a bill for trash left behind, items left in the room, and anything damaged.

I think my tuition was $2,675 per semester back in the late 1990's. Good times from what I think I remember from those days in metropolis junior. Anyone who hasn't visited in the last 10 years would be amazed by all of the changes on campus. Tons of new buildings and lots of roads now closed to vehicular traffic, which is a good thing. Lots of changes in downtown state college as well. Many new high-rise buildings and development. Come back for a visit and enjoy all the university has to offer.

The library was named after Amelia S Givin, obviously the benefactress of the library and a woman in the paper industry ahead of the time which was dominated by men. The library is constructed in Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, built with bricks and brown stones. Inside one can see "groups of semicircular arched windows, intricate carvings, and a semicircular apse". The latter is my favorite room, sporting 2 wheeled ladders attached to the rail on the wall. This is a great place to admire, reflect, and enjoy a quality quiet time.

The ambiance of this place is unmatched - it is saturated with character and will take you back to the days when information was housed in physical books and you had to search for it, instead of having it at your fingertips online. I held a book of poetry from the 1800s in my hands, and it was housed on an adorable shelf with a whole set of the books that were in the original library back before the turn of the 20th century. It's a unique combination of small and homey, while also being quite large. I can't imagine there being 100 people in this place comfortably at the same time, but if that's what you're looking for, you can go to the Bosler Library in Carlisle. This place is a vintage library experience, with all the benefits of being a part of the Cumberland County library system. I can't encourage you enough to check this place out - it was absolutely fantastic!
