The restaurant, or I should say castle, is typical for the area where medieval architecture is concerned. However, once you venture inside the well preserved lower dining area, and the upper great hall, impress to the extreme.
As it turns out, a knight once owned this castle, and his spirit of hospitality and finery is still to be found in the dining experience offered by the current owners. From the award winning wines that come straight from the establishment's vineyards, to the elegant and inexpensive rooms offered for guests, this is truly one of those places so often termed "hidden gems" in so many places around the world.
Try the wild boar, as far as menu offerings go. Or you may be more in the mood for fish, in which case the local ferellen (trout) are an excellent choice. Whatever you choose, you'll surely enjoy the establishment as our family did the other day.
Interestingly, we live not 5 kilometers from here and never stopped for some reason. We are glad we did this time. Ask Elsie about the crazy American who wanted to explore the whole castle (which she led a tour into).
