First of all I live in Michigan, I took a 5 day trip to Park City just looking for real estate to invest in. I contacted several real estate brokers, and while all of them were competent I was looking for someone who not only understood the Park City market from a transactional perspective, but someone who also had a good business mind and was able to sniff out great investments (This is where the book "The Secret Attraction" comes in. With that thought in mind I started went to several brokerage offices until I came to RMA realty. First of all I had just come off the slopes. I am not a snow boarder but was dressed in boarder gear because my luggage had gotten lost. I look much younger than my age anyway and the boarder gear made me look even younger. It was almost 6pm and close to closing time. When I walked in the office I saw a mild mannered grey hair gentleman sitting behind a desk. He politely asked if he could help me. I told him that I was looking for real estate in or around the park city area. First of all I don't like pushy people or people that try to sell me. That is why I fell in love with Roger's approach. It was strictly a consultative and informative approach. Just the facts, no fluff no stuff. He put together analysis of different areas and the price per square foot vs the rental income for slopeside vs off mountain. He showed me actual rental statistics for different locations. What impressed me most was his business mind. He is not just a owner/agent, but he owns about $3-$5 million worth of property there (I hope he does not mind me telling this). So he was able to give me insight on his current investments and things that he was looking at. I ended up leaving his office at close to 7:30pm. This was in March of 2006. I finally closed on my unit in April of 2007 with the help of Northpoint Financial, Also located in Park City Utah (Another 5 star transaction that I will be writing about in another blog). During this time RMA Realty went over and above (and when I say over and above, I mean over and above) the call of duty to help me get this thing closed. I highly recommend RMA Real Estate. This was also after he was 40 mins late to the house showing. Literally the next day, he flip flops his story and says that another group was chosen for the house. It is very much a scam, as we paid a total of $105 in application fees. Why would you take it upon yourself to call someone, tell them they are the priority, when you've already actually chosen someone else? We would very much just like a refund, for being mislead by a bad realtor.
