I called Scarlett in advance to see if she cuts ethnic hair. I am Black with thick coily hair. I wear my hair in a fro. I have had a very hard time finding people to cut my hair here in South Texas. She was very honest that she had been trained to cut ethnic hair but hadn't had as much experience. But if I was willing to provide her feedback we could see if she might be a good fit. I made sure that my hair was clean and blown out as straight as possible before arriving for the appointment. She listened very intently. Looked at the photo that I provided, took her time going through my hair and cut my hair in the exact shape that I asked for! I am very satisfied with my hair cut. I am very thankful that I was able to find Scarlett. I was comfortable allowing her to learn on my hair because she has so clearly demonstrated that she values providing great customer service. I'm writing this review to bring awareness to the owner and others about the dangers of just following orders. I called to make an appointment and the owner indicated I must wear a mask and that it's mandated by the state. I asked her if she would close her business if the state told her to as well. I cancelled my appointment. Texas business' are taking for granted our rights to start a business and conduct them without much government intrusion. Lots of other states and countries haven't been so lucky during the last 10 months. Millions of small business' have closed down forever due to mandates, lockdowns, and restrictions. By complying with orders you are complicit in this devastation continuing and have zero right to complain when and if the next lockdown occurs in Texas and if you ever lose your business from this. I change my hair ever 3 months( all over color, to extensions, to highlight lowlights, you name it i've done it). She has always nailed every hair style I've come to her for.
