No Kleenex supplied with room. The hotel parking was nearby, but a bit difficult to access due to some construction. Good free breakfast, but got a bit monotonous during our stay-the selections didn't change. Generally pleasant service. Hotel restaurant was nice, but not outstanding.

The staff was very accommodating, and assisted us in getting to all the places we wanted to see. Even though it is an extra charge, it is well worth using the garage to park your car. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices. If given the opportunity we would stay there again.

The morning buffets were ample and delicious. Fresh bread made for peanut butter and jam sandwiches which were great fuel during the 112 mile bike ride. The staff were kind enough to have a full buffet breakfast at 4 am on race day. My coffee and food at that race day buffet helped me confidently tackle the 226 kilometers of swimming, biking, and running the race entailed. Because the Calmar Stadshotell went all-out in providing a 4 am breakfast, all my friends from the California Strive Omni tri club (10 in all, myself included) were able to achieve personal records ("PRs") at Kalmar. Sorry to say not many race hotels are that supportive of tri athletes. Thanks again for making our stay in Kalmar the best it could be. Excellent location next to Kalmar Cathedral, finished in 1703. A block away from oldest stone house in Kalmar, completed in 1658 (Rosenlundska Huset).

The hotel is situated in the historical part of town, so if you like seeing the old parts of places…read morethen this is the hotel for you. The rooms could use an update and include some A/C for the hot nights I have had to cope with whist I was hear. The beds do the job and provide you somewhere to sleep but could really use some better pillows. I think the hotel has a copper roof which probably added to the heat and the fact I was on the top floor probably did not help!! The breakfast buffet does the job bu that is about it, there are plenty of little cafe's and restaurants directly opposite the hotel down the shopping streets so perhaps you might get more variety. The staff are very friendly and helpful as far as they can. But I had issues with their WiFi as in I (and many other guests) could only connect in the lobby area. It did not matter which staff member was behind the counter they said the same thing with the same result no WiFi in my room :( So all in all its in a great location for seeing the old part of Kalmar and not too far from the local airport which connects to Stockholm so its not a bad place to base yourself out of whilst if you are in this part of Sweden.

My first clue should have been the free ear plugs that were on the bedside table when I got to my room!! I knew there was going to be a "concert" as it was described to me the night I stayed at the hotel. What I didn't realize was that this "concert" was a rock and roll band that would draw over 1000 people to fill the town square and that they would stay and party until the wee hours ( the band actually stopped playing around 9:30). Well, when in Rome. . . So I jumped right in and joined the fray, My room had windows that opened on the square so the noise of revelers was easy to hear but it didn't really bother me. But if are a light sleeper- you may want to ask for a room in the back. This hotel is not fancy-but I loved the wide floorboards, the shower had excellent water pressure and the Internet is free. And surprisingly enough- the beds were quite comfortable. The rooms are a bit small and they have way too much furniture in them but they are highly functional. There is breakfast included in your daily rate and this was quite good - bacon and eggs, a choice of cereals, breads and a ton of meats and cheeses. No coffee in the rooms but the coffee in the coffee room was quite good as well. All in all a good value for the money and if you want to meet everyone in town-stop by on a night there's a band playing. You can relax out front at the hotel and all of Kalmar will walk by!

It's the small details that count. The room is on the smaller size, but really who spends time in their room other than sleep! They did allow us to move furniture to the hallway when we needed space for the bikes! The room deco is very boutique, but lacks A/C. It was hard to get a cross breeze so putting a fan in the window was the solution. The bed is comfortable, and extra pillows are in the closet. I slept amazingly well, and had a window to the street. There is a mini-bar, which was good to keep other things cool as well. Bathroom was very clean, and shower has good power and very warm. Excellent way to relax after a race. Only 400m from the finish line, 500m from the swim start, and 600m from the Expo and T1/T2.

The soft-boiled egg was on point though... The reason I gave it two stars was because there were flies around the cheese table and dessert table, making me lurched a little bit. Flies are not tolerable anywhere, especially not a hotel that boasts to have the largest whisky bar ever. I don't know whether the workers were just sloppy that day or this is an occurrence. I think I would rather have my brunch (or stay) somewhere else, considering the lobby also smelled strongly of ammonia (I wouldn't dare suggest something else?)
