We ordered: -Guacamole with banana chips: this was a nice appy to start the meal, coming with very nicely seasoned guac and dehydrated banana chips. Great way to start the meal. Large portion. -Two different types of vegan quiche that were both decadent, rich and well-spiced. Great creamy texture and quite filling -Black risotto - one of the best risottos I've ever had. Very creamy, with lots of vegan mozzarella, mushrooms, pumpkin seeds, and plenty of microgreens on top. Absolutely divine. -Baião de dois (vegan). I hadn't tried one of these before, and man was it incredible. The main dish was a rice-based dish with vegan sausage, firm tofu, and veggies with a very complex flavour and wonderful textures. On the side was an incredible garlic-sauteed kale, fried banana, and a sort of polenta-like mash with hearts of palm/jackfruit(? - look up) that was sensational. Our server spoke no English, so we communicated via Google Translate. He was so kind, hospitable and friendly--told us he loved serving us at the end. Can't say enough good things about this place. You must try out Banana Verde.

Honestly, this place would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the SERVICE. I absolutely hate to identify…read morepeople but the older bald man who was our server was so nonchalant and absolutely rude. Not like outwardly aggressive type of rude but the kind of rude where he interacts like he couldn't give a damn about the table, the order, or his guests. I do not speak Portuguese but I try. I try so hard to speak Portuguese to a basic level, enough to order. He wouldn't even try to help me out. I know he didn't speak English (not his problem at all) but usually, I even asked for "agua" and he acted as if he couldn't understand me. I resorted to just pointing to items on the menu (which is fine as well) but then he acted like he could barely lean over to see/read which item I was pointing to or like having to come closer to read what I was pointing at was annoying for him. Honestly, we were so excited to come there and he just lets the air out of the room with his demeanor. One thing that wasn't his fault, the restaurant did not have NUMEROUS items that was on the menu. We ordered various items and multiple people had to select their second and third choices. Sounds small but again, when you don't speak the language (but trying your best), having to pick two and three times on the fly is not a nice experience. Food and drink - 5 Stars Ambiance- 5 Stars Service- 1

They call themselves an eco-cultural center, housing a small retail shop, workshops and even yoga classes. They're open for lunch, and I recommend sitting out in the backyard garden, it's just adorable and peaceful. So, the menu changes daily, only offering one entree option. So, find the item of the day of the week you like, if not all of them, and you're good to go. First, you're off to their salad bar, included with your entree. This was one of the most incredible salad bars I've seen. All fresh, unique and loads of options. This ain't no Golden Corral funky iceburg lettuce bar. And, you can go back as many times as you'd like. This was my pretty veggie plate, and yes, I ate all of it. I would have gone back for seconds, but, I wanted to save room for my entree, of course. Well, I truly lucked out, when I was there, it was Feijoada day (feijoda da vegana com farofa, couve e arroz integtal, tofu assado ao molho madeira, batata assada e arroz integral). This was so awesome! Feijoada is typically a meat like stew, so, to have a vegetarian option that I could try, was really great. You can eat each element separately, or, combine to build a hearty stew. The beans, potato and tofu combination was really flavorful and delicious. I really enjoyed the braised greens as well, and the rice might have been some of the best rice I've ever had. It was tender, yet fluffy, soft and flavorful. The farofa was excellent too.

Hooray for dragging your group to an all vegan restaurant!…read more Well, I wasn't THAT evil since 3 out of the of us were veg*n, so it worked out okay. Maoz is a falafel paradise! Buy a pita pocket, it gets filled up with warm falafel, and then you make your way down the line and top it with as much veggies and sauces as you can physically cram into that warm carb blanket. I bought the combo, which comes with a large falafel pita pocket, side of fries, and a drink-all for $27R. It ended up being so much food I couldn't finish it! If you want the combo, go for the junior size, which is 3 falafels, instead of 5. Or, just skip the fries since the pita is filling enough as is. You can also try it as a salad, which looked like a lot of food! The toppings bar has everything you would want with your falafel. From savory, to pickled, to spicy, to creamy toppings, they have it all. Try all the sauces as well! Just get it all! I tried the watermelon juice and it was refreshing and delicious. We never get enough fresh squeezed juice in the USA. It's not even an option. Maoz is located in a very crowded neighborhood brimming with shops and restaurants. So after we ate, we were able to explore a little bit. What a great find!

They have a bar where you can add all the ingredients you want to it! The people who were working were extremely nice to me! They let me taste their juice options before picking one (they gave me almost 2 full cups of juice! So generous!!!) I recommend it! Their food is so tasty! LOVED IT!
