To start, finding parking at Savu was a breeze. I'm not even 100% sure we parked in the "correct" lot, but it worked out perfectly since it was conveniently located right across the street. Our reservation was for 9:15 PM, and we arrived early at 9:00 PM, joining a line of other guests who also had reservations. Despite that, we weren't seated until around 9:30 PM, which was a bit of a downside. However, once we were seated, my experience shifted completely. Although we didn't reserve seating in the Japanese Garden, we were placed there and I'm so glad we were. The ambiance was stunning. It gave elevated, rooftop energy with a serene, immersive vibe that instantly set the tone for the night. The drinks came out beautifully crafted and visually appealing definitely a highlight. We ordered a few appetizers, entrées, and sides (since sides aren't included), and one thing to note is that everything is served as it's ready. Our food came out staggered: shrimp first, then fries, then my entrée, followed by my partner's side, and finally her entrée. As for the food, mine was overall enjoyable. The fries were delicious, and the salmon was cooked perfectly, leaving me wanting more. Unfortunately, the broccolini was overcooked, which was disappointing because I LOVE broccolini. My partner ordered the tomahawk steak and found it to be overly salty and not satisfying. Overall, I'd rate the food a 6.5/10. That said, my favorite parts of the night were the experience, ambiance, entertainment, drinks, sushi, service, and even the energy of the other patrons. Those elements truly carried the night and elevated the overall rating from what could've been a 3 to a solid 4. I'd absolutely come back and give them another chance to earn that 5th star. Went here on a Sunday parents date night. When you enter, have your ID ready as everyone is carded (even at 6pm), even if you look old enough to be someone's great grandmother. We sat downstairs in the dining room in a big booth in front of the bar. It was spacious for the two of us. It was quite difficult to read the menus as other reviewers warn. There was one person drinking at the bar. It was cold. We had a bottle of Pellegrino ($12), two sushi rolls ($20/$22), 2 sides ($14/$12) and a coke (priced per small can). The Korean Street Corn came out first and smelt a bit burnt - corn kernels, butter, shredded cheese and a herb garnish. Bland. The Dragon's Kiss roll came out next - it was good, tasted like real crab and had nice crunchies. I would eat this again. The Love in Kyoto roll was a bit stomach upsetting. The Yuzu Aioli and Lemon kind of ruined that roll. If you like the other ingredients - ask to hold that. My husband could only eat one piece and almost gagged. Last and best were the Furikake Fries. They weren't as good as the ones at Fin and Fino (these are softer and covered with herbs - the aioli is also thicker and comes on the side). The portion is a nice size to share or eat as an entree if you're into that. If you're hungry and/or a picky eater - get these. When the check comes, a 18% fee is on it - 15% to waitress and 3% to other staff. Then on the card machine there are prompts for small optional additional % tip (2% for example). The downstairs women's restroom design was clean, elegant and there was a completely black toilet and cool marble sink. There was not however any toilet paper or cabinet where any could be found. Apparently the men's downstairs restroom was not similarly themed. I really liked our waitress. One of the stars is just for her. The menu is a bit of a journey; the black truffle pasta is a standout dish that I would return for alone. My friends and I came on Thursday which is half off apps. We ordered every app on the menu. Our favorite was the Spicy Rock Shrimp. We needed up ordering more. Overall we enjoyed all of the apps. Some were small portions while others were bigger portions. I think the food prices are expensive and you're paying for the ambience so we didn't order anything else on the menu. Half apps are worth the price though. Lights a dimmed, music is loud but not too loud where we couldn't hear each other speak. There's and upstairs and downstairs. I chose this place for this year's X-Mas date night... I must start with the parking issues. We had to park across the street (paid parking, $13)...and the machine was so problematic, it took my husband nearly 15 minutes to get it to work. So that was obviously a big hassle! Anyway, thanks to our RSVP, we were seated immediately...in a comfy booth downstairs. As anticipated, the place was quite posh, with dark, loungy ambiance...but looked really small. Turned out that there was a second floor, with many more tables and chairs. Ultimately, it really wasn't a huge problem because our booth was very comfy...and both levels had plenty of ambiance. Now, the foods! We ordered several items to share: Spicy Rock Shrmp, King Crab Crispy Rice, Barbeque Eel"Dragon Kiss" Sushi Roll, and Red Velvet Cake In a way, I was surprised. Though pricey, I didn't expect the foods to be that good...but we were pleasantly surprised. Not only delicious, but beautifully presented (with flowers!) as well. Kudos! I even enjoyed this "Bangkok Breeze" cocktail...very nice, fresh flavor, and strong! My husband wasn't too thrilled with the beer options...but he had Corona Extra. Service was also really good. We even added a third last minute to our reservation and were able to be seated quickly and received prompt service. Now the wait time for food is a bit but with this space being entertainment focused it is to be expected. The space and environment curated by the restaurant was honestly the highlight of dinner. Everything was beautiful, and the entertainment was cute. With bottle service, the decor, and offering hookah the space is comparable to a lounge rather a restaurant. Which is wonderful for different occasions, celebrations, and any other festive get togethers. For the food itself I want anything spectacular, but was tasty and was decent portions. The spicy rock shrimp was definitely lacking in spice but resembled a basic bang bang shrimp. The dragon kiss roll which was recommended was the highlight of the meal. Super refreshing and tasty. I wanted to love my experience here for a girls night out, but feel like the food was just not up to par for me. It's a beautiful restaurant and while we enjoyed our server when she served us the service was extremely slow. In between taking our orders and what we ordered arriving took a long time. Even to get the bill was over 20 minutes. The drinks weren't great in my opinion and we had to send one back and try something different. The fire show is a great addition they definitely had a great vibe and atmosphere. The music was on the loud side and wasn't great music. I guess you would call it "house" music. Not my vibe but may be a hit for others. I ordered the fried rice, I'm a fried rice connoisseur. And this took me a back. It was like they made it too complicated too many flavors that didn't go well together. That was a hell no for me. The fruit plate was great and the wings were good. The lobster noodles my friend said were 10/10. Parking on an event night is atrocious. 0/10. Valet would be a great option. I thought the ambiance and atmosphere of Savu were great -- you can clearly see what the owner envisioned. Having been to similar restaurants in Miami, Mexico, and Colombia, I can appreciate the aesthetic and vibe they're going for. However, the service and overall quality of the food and drinks weren't quite there yet. It's possible they're still working through the usual "new opening" jitters, but there's definitely room for improvement. Our server mentioned that the menu was designed for sharing, so we ordered the King Crab Lo Mein. While we didn't expect a full crab cluster, the portion of crab we received was honestly disappointing -- a snow crab leg of the same section would've been larger. I also noticed inconsistencies in the presentation of the Golden Geisha. Even though the menu mentions gold flakes, none were visible on our dish -- and after checking photos from other guests, it seems that's a recurring issue. I'd even be willing to pay a little extra just for it to look the way it's advertised. Unfortunately, the lobster was also severely overcooked -- to the point it resembled chicken breast in texture. The best thing we had that night was the Corn Crème Brûlée. The flavor itself was creative and enjoyable, but the brûlée portion was burnt. It's a small detail, but it adds to the pattern of inconsistencies and lack of awareness when it comes to quality control. Whoever was on expo -- whether the executive chef, sous chef, or runner -- should have caught that before it left the kitchen. And if it passed through multiple hands before reaching our table, someone should have said, "This is burnt -- we can't serve this." That kind of attention to detail matters, especially for a restaurant of this caliber. The Tokyo Roast Espresso Martini was another miss for me. It was difficult to drink and lacked the right balance of flavors, with no foam head at all. Drinks also took quite a while to arrive and ended up coming out at the same time as our sushi, despite the restaurant being almost empty at the time of our reservation. Service overall could be improved. Water service, for example, wasn't attentive -- our glasses sat empty most of the time. With the number of managers and staff walking by, it would've been nice to be acknowledged or offered refills. For a brand-new restaurant, it makes a strong impression when managers check in with each table and genuinely gauge the guest experience, not just greet at the door. I also found it disappointing that an automatic gratuity was added to the bill. I always tip, but I prefer to base it on the quality of service -- and given this experience, it would've been nice to have that choice. Parking is another thing to be mindful of. When there's a game or event at the nearby football stadium, parking can be difficult and expensive, with lots charging $60+ per car. Unless you live nearby or plan to Uber, that could easily become an inconvenience. Luckily, we managed to find street parking close by. All in all, I don't think I'd return for dinner based on this experience. I might come back with friends for drinks, vibes, and hookah since the atmosphere is genuinely enjoyable -- hopefully that side of the experience hits the mark better. read more

Recently had a girls night out here on a Saturday. I loved the decor, and hostess and waitresses were awesome. I agree with other reviewers regarding parking. Parking is across the street, which I didn't find to be troublesome, but the machine was such an issue. It takes an extremely long time to read your card, and then even longer to process the card and get an approval. The fee is $13, but parking was good for about 7 hours, so no complaints there. We all ordered hibachi, and the food was horrible! I understand this is Asian Fusion, but the food was more Morrocan than Asian. I couldn't even stomach the food. Our waitress was nice enough to allow me to swap my dish for sushi, which was better, but still only meh. This place is also VERY loud. SAVÚ is an Asian Fusion restaurant in downtown Charlotte that we wanted to try. It's newer as of this review. Finding it was tricky at first, depending on the way the GPS guidance takes you, because their signage is a little dark (at least from the Graham St. side). It's located right at the corner of W. Trade and Graham. We parked in the paid parking lot across the street from the restaurant as it was closest. You can make reservations and choose from three options: dining room, high-top, or Japanese garden. The decor is a vibe, and the lighting is low but warm. There is also a very nice patio area out front that you can tell will be packed when warmer weather arrives. We were greeted warmly at the host stand. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and she made solid menu recommendations. Their manager checked in on us too. We started with the Spicy Rock Shrimp which was tasty. We also tried the Signature SAVÚ Hibachi with jumbo shrimp and the NY Strip with mashed potatoes. Both of these dishes came out with unexpected presentations that were pleasant surprises. In addition to the jumbo shrimp, there were smaller shrimp underneath. Both dishes were great takes on their more traditional versions. There is a really nice bar and curtained off VIP area downstairs. We didn't make it upstairs this trip, but from what we could hear, it sounded lively. They had several other menus items that are on my list to try such as the Golden Geisha sushi roll with lobster, the Black Truffle Pasta and the Garlic Lobster Lo Mein. I would like to start off with saying the service was great. I think the venue is very aesthetically pleasing and appealing to the eye. The menu is a bit pricey for the amount of food that you receive. I ordered the lobster lo mein and let's just say there was definitely nothing to pack in a box to go home for even a snack. I did enjoy the flavor of the lo mein noodles, however, the lobster was rather soft and had no flavor. I ordered a passionfruit lemon drop, which was good. I was sad that we missed out on the fire shows that I've seen on others post when they visited the location. I went to Savu for a nice date night, and didn't realize it was grand opening weekend. The vibe looked like my kind of place, so I was eager to try it out! I specifically called to ensure that we could be seated inside since it was getting colder. There was a little wait when we arrived and we were told that we could get a drink at the bar although there was no room to do that at all. Eventually it was our turn to be seated and we were told that only outdoor seating was available. I was a little upset given that I had made a reservation and called ahead of specifically to be seated inside, and the hostesses were able to make it work which was great at the end of the day! The menu had a variety of great options so we weren't short of choices! I do think it would be smart to have a beef version of The hibachi although the chicken hibachi was absolutely delicious! It tasted like Peking duck. We also got the shrimp appetizer and dragon's nest sushi roll and both work great! My salmon was also a hit and we got fries as a side. It is a little bit on the louder end given that there's a DJ and speakers playing music, but I loved the energy of this place, just something to be aware of. What was most unique about the experience for the performers that stopped by the tables. It was a very unique touch! Our server, I think his name was David, was great and overall when thinking about the atmosphere, service, and food, I would highly recommend! We went back this past weekend; the door man who greeted us was really sweet & let us know that without reservations, it would be a wait - which we figured and didn't mind because when we looked online that night- there were no reservations available. We sat out on the terrace and decided to just get drinks and wait for our table to be ready as I added us to the waitlist. We ended up being served food and drink before our table inside was even ready which was fine. The food was okay, I got the black truffle pasta, however, the first dish came out too cold. My drink was okay although it took us nearly 30 minutes to get our drinks after sitting down. Lastly, I was aware of how busy our server was, I don't suspect the wait times were solely based off her not checking on our food & drinks but more so the wait times of the kitchen and bar. Still kind of unsettling that it took 30 minutes to make an espresso martini and a fire shot but anyways, summary: long wait time, service was mid, food was okay when it came out warm, the menu is a bit overpriced for the portion but they did have live entertainment. We came here as a group of 10. The parking is very expensive in the lot across the street $13 and has a kiosk for a credit card. Street parking downtown now prevents me from coming to restaurants. It's only by smart phone and I don't have one. The sign for street parking says you can call a phone number, but when I did, they said they stopped taking payment over the phone 1 month ago. For these reasons, I likely won't be returning. Now for the food. I got a sushi roll and the truffle pasta. The pasta was AMAZING. Creamy and absolutely delicious flavor ! Definitely get this if you come here. The sushi was very good. I love the swanky atmosphere. Cozy booths, curtains and low lighting. Their sign is very cool with running water. There was a nice Christmas tree at the entrance for the holiday. This place is very nice.... if you don't mind the expense of paying for parking. If they validated, this place could be 5 stars. Finally we had a large party and they agreed to split our checks which was very nice of them. On Wednesday for ladies they have a game if anyone gets a pair of fours on the dice, the bill is covered. Playing the game was fun. Where we were seated was near the kitchen ans cramped for a large party....I wish we could have sat upstairs as I heard there was more room up there. I went here for a date night with my husband and we had such a lovely experience. Our server was so sweet and didn't hesitate to give us great recommendations. For food, we started with the Bang Bang Shrimp (I'm still dreaming about it) and shared the steak with a side of truffle fries. Everything was amazing. We finished the night with an espresso tequila drink that was just as delicious. Overall, it was the perfect date night. The decor is absolutely beautiful, shout out to the designer. Just to start - Savú is absolutely stunning. Every corner of the restaurant is Instagram worthy (even the bathrooms lol). The ambience is unlike anything I've seen in any other restaurant in Charlotte - warm, elevated, and thoughtfully designed. The service is 10/10! The staff was kind, attentive, and immersive with some unique touches inspired by traditional Japanese dining. The food and drinks came out quickly and far exceeded my expectations. The corn crème brûlée was unbelievably good (I wish I'd gotten a photo of it!), the Japanese rib eye was perfectly cooked and very flavorful, and the truffle pasta was rich, creamy, and has my mouth watering just thinking about it! Their drink menu is also super creative. Every cocktail was delicious, but the espresso martini especially was an easy 10/10. Overall, we had a great experience at Savú, so much so that I'm hosting my birthday dinner there! Can't wait to go back. Thank you Savú for the incredible service + culinary experience. read more

The waitress was very rude and seemed miserable the entirety of our time eating. She never asked if our food was okay, seeming to only be concerned about us upping the bill by constantly asking if we wanted more drinks and food. She kept hovering over the table making us feel uncomfortable as if she wanted us to leave if we wouldn't buy more to up the cost of the bill (and her subsequent tip). She started doing this not even 5 minutes after we ordered. The food was very average, nothing special, but not terrible. I'm incredibly disappointed by the lack of politeness as a first time patron. I will not be coming back and will not be recommending anyone else does either. Maybe I would have purchased more like she wanted if I felt any type of welcomed at this establishment. Very expensive for what you get as well. Edit: the environment was just very weird as well. There was a birthday girl where the employees came out with sparklers and a board that said "Happy Birthday" which was nice but they were completely SILENT the entire time making it uncomfortable for everyone. Establishment is very nice with good music and entertainment. Unfortunately the food is extremely salty and staff is kind of rude. Came for a birthday dinner and ordered a blackberry lemon drop 10/10, Furikake Fries (8/10), and Signature SAVŪ Hibachi with chicken (0/10). We arrived shortly after the party and we gave the hostess the name and she stated it was no one there with that name but after 10 mins she eventually found the name the party was under.. which is weird because I gave her that exact name when we entered. The Furikake Fries were good but seems to be the fries from the bottom of the bag of that makes sense but overall very tasty. The Signature SAVŪ Hibachi with chicken was extremely salty- 4 people at the table ordered it and everyone agreed it was salty and didn't eat it. 1 order had to get sent back twice because they kept bringing out the wrong order. Also ordered Hookah which took 20 mins to "start" which is extremely weird being that usually when a restaurant or club brings a hookah out they are ready to be used/ smoked immediately. The waitress kept saying "give it some time" but when you are on a 2hr time limit I need my stuff ready to go soon as it comes to the table. If you plan to visit I would attend for drinks and the vibes but would definitely recommend eating somewhere else unless you don't mind have a raging headache afterwards. I made a reservation and was seated promptly upon arrival. I was sat at the first table on the right. There appeared to be a speaker right above the table which made it difficult for our table to hear each other and staff. I enjoyed what I ordered and what I tasted. Those items included shishito peppers, the Bangkok breeze drink, velvet samurai, Japanese poultry wings, and signature SAVŪ hibachi. The overall vibe was grown and sexy. SAVÚ was great! The ambiance and vibes were spot on, matching the food perfectly. We visited for a birthday celebration, and our server, Kia, was incredibly helpful and quick. While everything was nearly perfect, I did notice the stairs weren't lit when we first arrived which caused a little trip but nothing serious, lol, and I would have loved to see a few more options on the menu. Went to see the rave from TikTok and Instagram. I WILL say don't believe the hype of growing content creators. Anything to get like and views 2 friends and I showed up late to our 7pm reservation which they were very kind about. You only get 2 hrs at the table so we only had 1.5 hrs. No problem because we were gone after an hour. The drinks are very strong but lacks genuine flavor so that's a 7/10 for me. The food is received sporadically so everyone doesn't get their meals at the same time. This is where the problem comes in. Our order consistent of : 2 hibachis (shrimp and chicken) , 2 sushi rolls and 1 appetizer. They received their meals, and I was told by server mine would be out shortly (no problem for me ). But, My food never came, and my patience was thin especially considering the drink is strong. My friend chicken hibachi had shrimp in it, (thank God he didn't have an allergy) so why did I not have my food (shrimp hibachi) ? The server never came back to the table to check on our meals, if there were any additional wants nor if i ever received it. The server came back after 20-25 mins and I let her know to just take the hibachi off the bill because at this point the entire table is done eating their food. Her response ???? "Ok I'll just cancel it Can I give you a glass of champagne?! " - How can you cancel a meal so easily if it's been on the way for the past 25 mins ? The manager never came over to rectify the situation or speak to us. Realistically I declined the free offer because , Why would I want more alcohol on an empty stomach ??? There is an automatic 18% gratuity on the bill, and that's crazy considering the service is not attentive. Anyways, I don't expect this place to be open long once the hype dies down. read more
