He pleaded guilty for grand larceny for scamming customers in 2021 and is supposed to be on probation for 5 years, so I am unsure how he can operate in the same industry while under probation. I had to push him to finish 2 concrete projects at my home in 2021, for which he kept blaming delays on the concrete companies, only completed the job when I threatened to fire him, finished work at 9pm and thought we would pay him by looking at slabs by flashlight/truck headlights. He told us he was done, but when we refused to pay, he came back the next day and had to work another 6 hrs! I had a 1 year warranty built into our contract. When the concrete starting flaking within 6 months, I tried to contact him and he ghosted me. We are now just dealing with the flaking and I never want him on our property again. If I could give a zero rating, I would have.

We understood that flats were not to be returned as they have had issues in the past with past customers mixing up the boxes. However, we had purchased 3 hearthstones as the dealer told us that was all we would need. When building the fireplace we actually needed 4. As we live 50 miles from Queensbury we tried to match our hearthstone with similar outfits in Albany as we only needed one more hearth stone. Since we could not find a perfect color match, we had to purchase 4 hearthstones elsewhere. We were told we might need a bag of mortar (80 lbs). We never opened the bag as we dry stacked the stones. We had our fireplace built this past week. When I called Duke Concrete to ask them to take back the product we did not use, they refused. As the seller told us we only needed 3 hearth stones and the mortar, we think that it would be their responsibility to take care of their customer and graciously accept the returns. We spent $115.10 that we did not get back. Needless to say, we do not recommend using Duke Concrete because if you ever over buy or under buy as we did, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK. We had Mark come out to inspect our basement and provide an estimate. We were provided an great price and decided to proceed with the work. Mark, Melvin and Joe completed the job over a two day period (we have a very large basement) and we enjoyed having them here. They kept the work space extremely neat and they were very professional, friendly and careful with our home. They did an excellent job and we are very pleased with the results. I would not hesitate to use their service again in the future and I would happily recommend them to anyone needing work in their basement.

I know the owner of the business is still learning, but makes up for what he lacks in experience with his enthusiasm, eagerness to take risks and try new things that he has never done before, and thorough theoretical understanding of what he does. My advice to those who hire this team is to stay involved in the project from start to finish and have frequent discussions with them on design details, budget and expected time of completion.
