I recently lost dental insurance and found a daily deal for cleaning and x-rays here. Save yourself the time and aggravation and just pony up for a full-price dentist. It will save you money in the long run! Granted, it had been a while since my last cleaning, but they told me that I had 8 cavities (I've had one in my whole life). On top of that the fillings were going to be $250 each - it wasn't clear if they were planning to use composite or metal amalgam - plus some other charges. I did some research and found an old complaint against this dentist, so I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist before paying over $2,000 for the recommended work. I asked to pick up my x-rays. They said sure, and I went to go get them. They made me sign for my file - fine. I signed on the top of the file, and then they took the file right out of my hands! They then handed me photocopies, and told me that I couldn't have my file or x-rays. I took the photocopies to the new dentist. He was shocked that the dentist wouldn't allow me to take my actual x-rays, he inspected my teeth, he found far fewer cavities, and his prices were much lower for the fillings. Lesson learned. read more
