First order tonight based on coworker and yelp recs, and it did not disappoint: tasty pasta that fills you up but doesn't feel heavy; small dessert portions (at small dessert prices! Finally a place that knows working late deserves a treat but that a full tiramisu every night is a bad idea...). Minus one star because my food was on the lukewarm side by the time it got to me, but it's a cold night and they seemed pretty busy. As other reviewers have noted, the prices are clearly geared towards late-night midtown office Seamless accounts, but on the plus side, they also recognize that sometimes you need a new pack of gum or an energy bar and working around the clock doesn't leave much time for a stop at the bodega. HORRIBLE! They get all these great reviews so I assume they pay for them! Disgusting food. Food is NOT FRESH. It is pre-packaged and stored in a fridge then pulled out and stuffed in a bag. The HOT items are microwaved... how else do you explain cold spots in pasta? My SEARED tuna was a fully overcooked cold brick of gray matter! The arugala was wilted and frozen I got a quarter of a potato and my hard boiled egg had half of the whites peeled off with the shell. The bread on the sandwich was soggy and COLD. this is a shop that is a catering place for mostly office buildings and businesses and folks who want to eat healthy .now its a walk in place where you can pick up some food waiting for you on display. there is no seating and place is simple and bland looking. behind the counter staff and cashiers is a big behind the scene , were food is made and prepared and workers are taking catering orders.its basically like a factory in motion. its suppose to be all healthy and organic, but that comes with a price. make no mistake food is very good from the dishes to the sandwiches, the salads, the soups and the small side dishes. i usually pick up the thai chicken dish and or the salmon dish and or the roasted chicken plate, also tofu platter is available .the soups are very good , my pick is carrot ginger or potato leek, they also have clam chowder. the turkey , mozzarella, peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches are not bad, also they have can sodas, juices,and water.they have sides of carrots, salads, etc, i would give this place a try if you work in area, just remember , take out only, no seating. the prices are kinda high for a full plate 13 bucks or more, but something new for a change is good. check website for daily menu and soup lineup, and get free savory card , when you reach 10 purchases, the next dish is free. one last thing ,not everything that is served via catering is serve in the walk in store, but still enough good healthy choices , enjoy folks bye. read more

Tried their catering for the first time and was very impressed. The prices are extremely reasonable and competitive for the market in NYC. The display was gorgeous and organized, with labels for each item as well as a handy guide that detailed the ingredients and notated if they were gluten-free or vegetarian. Really enjoyed the PB&J (so novel for a catered lunch!) as well as the sweet treats (snickerdoodles... yum.) Lots of great options and everything I tried was delicious! read more

I've ordered !Savory from seamless about 6-8 times now. Here are my thoughts: DO go for a plain cut of meat. The chicken was awesome. DO get the sides. They're not overcooked and they're all pretty delicious. DO get salads. They're quality. The spinach one was great. DO get the pizza rolls on days you're feeling sorry for yourself. They're that good. BEWARE of the mac-n-cheese: it's good, but it's not the mac-n-cheese that you think it is. If you are like me, you like creamy, cheesy mac-n-cheese with cheese on top. Sort of like the bechamel with a hard top thing? Right, well this isn't it. This is more of an herbed butter-saucy thing. Didn't taste like mac-n-cheese to me, but wasn't bad. Just know what you're getting. BEWARE of some of the entrees. Like two reviewers added, there is way too much salt in these things. Let it be known that I adore salt. I salt my salads. I salt salt. But this is insane. This is like "I'm trying to make a fancy dinner but I'm running late and I'm multitasking while still trying to get a pre-dinner party buzz and OH HELL THE LID JUST CAME OFF THE SALT SHAKER AND I DUMPED THE ENTIRE THING IN AND NOW I'M SCOOPING IT OUT BUT TO NO AVAIL AND WE'RE ALL GOING TO BE SO BLOATED TOMORROW!" salty. Meatloaf and mac-n-cheese were two culprits. Also, I just tried the meatloaf and it was so, so, so gross. I might be the wrong person to juge the meatloaf, since I typically think that meatloaf from not-my-mom is gross, but let me give you my reasons and you can decide: (1) bathed in viscous gray gravy (?); (2) there was a surprise piece of bread under it (?); (3) in addition to the onions--which are fine by me--there are other white lumps (fat?); and (4) the meat is ugly. Ok, reason 4 is a ridiculous, picky reason, but I'm one of those people who is weird about burgers, too. Of course I'll still order here because it feels neat and clean. There are free doughnuts. The deliverymen are nice. Service is prompt. Some of the things are great. These are mostly wrong reasons, but when I'm stuck at work, these are things I care about. This review is for !Savory and !Savory Full (which doesn't seem to be listed). Simply fantastic delivery. I work late a *lot* and this is my go-to (when the company is paying... more on that later). Surprisingly fast delivery for the quality of the food. Every iteration I've gotten of The Bird at !Savory has been awesome. The (Big) Mac was also really good, but $16.50 for a nicer Mickey D's burger is excessive. The red mashed potatoes and green beans are ridiculously good. Oh, and the sweet potato fries... The portions are small if you're a big eater, but work great for me. I build my own at !Savory Full with the Thai Chicken or Korean Braised beef, the roasted cauliflower, broccoli salad and ratatouille. It sucks that they started charging (a LOT) extra for the quinoa, though. This is critical: The delivery guys never call until they're actually in my office lobby, so I don't have to stand around waiting for them when I'm already pissed that I'm still at work. All in all, awesome delivery, but loses a star because it's pricey enough for what you get that I wouldn't order on my own dime. I was recently on the east coast in our NYC offices and we ordered Savory for the team. My colleagues stressed what a great service it was; I couldn't believe how excited they were for lunch! Well, they made a fan out of me. The sandwiches were great and there were plenty of ACTUAL vegetarian options for me - not just pasta and salad (thank goodness!). Everything was incredibly fresh, which can be a worry with delivery, but trust me this isn't something you need to fret about with their service - the salad was crisp and yummy. I ordered from Savory via Seamless for my first experience with Savory. It arrived more than an hour and ten minutes late - not a good start. The presentation was nice but as expected, it was barely warm when I opened it. From the menu, the jerk chicken sounded tasty and filling: All-natural, hormone-free jerk chicken served with ratatouille, roasted cauliflower puttanesca, and baked sweet potato. The chicken did have decent flavor, but it was not warm and I had to pick one bone and two chunks of cartilage out of my mouth throughout the meal - not pleasant with coworkers in a professional environment. Both the sweet potato chunks and the vegetables in the ratatouille were cooked inconsistently; some were incredibly mushy, others were still crunchy. The cauliflower was the best part of the meal. All of this was on a bed of baby spinach. Again, nice presentation and it sounds like a lot of food but I was still hungry after I cleaned my plate. This was my first experience with !Savory and not one part of it makes me want to give them another try. read more

I've used seamless 1-2x a day every workday for the last 6-8 years, and Savory is hands down the worst delivery. They are 5-6 blocks from my office and typical delivery time is minimum an hour and a half, and not infrequently over 2 hours. You may be thinking, well what if you (absurdly) place your order 2 hours earlier than you usually do? Doesn't matter. I've tried that, it still takes 1.5-2.0 hours, and your food is ALWAYS cold. Meaning they're either overloading the delivery guys with 40 deliveries, so only 10 people are getting warm deliveries... or the food is sitting at the restaurant for 45 minutes before it leaves. Either way Savory, you are horrible. Get a clue. Fire your managers. For a place that is designed for the sole purpose of providing great delivery food (the food is good on the off occasion you get it warm), how do you not get the delivery part of the equation right? I've learned my lesson, never again Savory. read more

I love to order for my office from here because 1, I'm sick of wraps, 2, they put little place cards next to everything so you know what you're eating before you touch it (I'm a germophobe), and 3, it's the same price as most other places, so you're getting way more for your money. I'm never going to stop ordering from here! BTW, I had no idea how good peanut butter and jelly was until I had the PBJ for the first time at an office meeting catered by Savory the other day. They make theirs with peanut brittle peanut butter, strawberry jam, fresh strawberries, and put it all on a pretzel bun. I'm dead - my diet has gone out of the window. Food is fine. I have asked 7 times to be removed from the mailing list. Even went so far as to report this company to the FCC under the CAN-SPAM act. No action has been taken. The 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of their emails is non-functioning. For a company that hopes to break into an already crowded space, this type of carelessness is what sinks ships. This place has some nerve charging exorbitant prices for the bland, disappointing food it serves. I've ordered here a few times, because their pitch and delivery on the website are so good. You think you are getting (and are paying) for a well-cooked meal. No seasoning, hot food delievered ice cold and the ingredients taste cheap. Every time I ordered from here, I wanted to kick myself in the rear after seeing the bill and tasting what they refer to as food. 2 stars. Delivery only for dinner which is supposed to be their niche??? Ordered chicken fingers which were thick, dry and very little flavor. It came with Honey mustard dipping sauce which was good, but the Thai Chile sauce tasted like duck sauce and did not go well with the fingers. Tried the Mozzarella sticks too which had too much cheese and not a lot of breading. It came with Chipotle dipping sauce which was good, but marinara sauce was very watery. Also ordered the Pulled pork sandwich which was flavorless and dry and I would not recommend. The doughnut holes came free for desert and tasted like an Entenmanns glazed doughnuts which were OK. I ordered from !Savory last night for the first time, after having longingly gazed at their expensive menu several times. I was disappointed. I ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato fries, which cost $15. I was really in the mood for a great veggie burger, and I had high hopes for this one, given Savory's pretension to sell "gourmet" food. Yikes. First of all, the food wasn't hot. It was lukewarm at best. Now, I live very close to the Savory kitchen, so I really don't see an excuse for this. When your restaurant is DELIVERY ONLY, you'd think you would make the extra effort to make sure the food arrives hot and fresh. The menu describes the fries as "crispy." They were soft and barely warm. Small wonder, because they were packaged only in a paper cup inside of a paper bag. Yeah, the geniuses at Savory thought this would be an effective packaging for fries. Again, this is a DELIVERY ONLY restaurant. You can't explain this away as "well, it's to be expected with delivery." The veggie burger, as another reviewer mentioned below, wasn't very appealing in appearance, and the "patty" fell apart as soon as I tried to pick up the burger. Given the prices Savory charges for their delivery-only service, I expected something much, much better than this. I won't be ordering from Savory again. Also, this doesn't matter as much to me as the food, but the delivery person was surly, and took about 15 minutes to get to my door from when the doorman in my building told me he was coming up. Did he take the freaking stairs ten floors? Thanks for making my food that much colder. read more

I placed an order yesterday 6/5/12. After an hour the food had still not been delivered. I called and was told it was on its way. I commented it would probably be cold and the woman said "Oh we can get it back and reheat it for you". Great, when your service sucks you offer to reheat my hour old food? someone with half an ounce of common sense would have offered to replace it, but not money-grubbing savory. It took 1 hour and 22 minutes to arrive and was stone cold. The delivery guy didn't even say sorry. In fact he didn't even say please when he asked for the money. I finished this by saying "When they started Savory was quite good. Unfortunately they went from quite good to DREADFUL". However as a result of my comment on their website I did receive a call from Drew offering a sincere apology and free entrees -- and I guess you can't ask fairer than that. read more

I had The salmon with spinach, steamed swiss chard, and roasted vegetables and it came close to my own food. I ordered dinner from !Savory via Seamless Web last night. I had the Cobb salad, which was very tasty. It would have been better if they had tossed it, though. It was a little hard to mix the toppings with the greens with it packed into the plastic delivery bowl. But it tasted very fresh, and the blue cheese dressing was good. They gave me a couple of free donut holes for dessert. And the Seamless delivery was very quick. I would consider ordering from !Savory again, definitely. read more

So this is only my second ever Yelp review. The first one was because of an unbelievably bad experience, so it's only fair that I also write for the exact opposite. I ordered Savory to my apartment tonight after hearing about it from a friend. Amazing! I got The Boozehound, and as a pasta connoisseur, I have to say that it's up there with any Italian restaurant in the city. And much better than anywhere else that delivers (unless you're into gloopy, soggy pasta, in which case this isn't the place for you!). Seriously -- the sausage was out of this world, the rigatoni was al dente, and the fresh mozz was perfectly melted on top. I highly recommend! read more

The customer service person I spoke to Shrayons(?) is also really awesome, and ordering through him was very easy. They make this bomb pb&j on pretzel bread but also have fancier items.
