I love the idea of making a resort like hotel in a place like Medicine Hat where there's not much else to do. If it wasn't resort like, we probably would've done Edmonton. They have a pool with water slides, (pools were a little small though), spa, casino, sometimes live entertainment if I saw that correctly, and two restaurants on the resort. There's also some cheaper chain restaurants across the street if you wanna be a little more frugal. There's the mall across the street too which is convenient. We got the romantic get away package which included a room with a jacuzzi, two TVs, chocolate strawberries and wine (which we decided to pass on as we're not big drinkers), and a $75 voucher for the steak restaurant on the resort. That was a particularly nice addition as we'd normally do the more frugal option. My husband said it was the best steak he's had in years, which is really saying something as he's kind of particular with his food. Baked potatoes were a little disappointing, not too loaded. We'd definitely come here again! PS: They did a good job keeping everything covid safe. Hand sanitizer everywhere, plexi glass, and the pool was closed for cleaning several times a day, and you had to book a time to swim to prevent crowding.

The water slide was AMAZING, the pool was refreshing, and a wonderful little get away within the hotel. The lifeguard was so sweet and great. I will definitely be back next time I visit family in Medicine Hat.

The rooms are clean and a decent size. At first I was slightly disappointed that we were placed within feet of the elevator, but in fact, the noise didn't penetrate the room at all. The continental breakfast had a decent variety of foods, however, and this probably due to it being Christmas time, was full and hard to find a table. Regardless, the eating area was clean. I would stay here again when passing through town.

We got one of the last rooms available. And it was a King suite but it also did have a pullout sofa which was fine. The TV talks to you and knows you by name as it is programed upon check in. We were on first floor, Great! super easy with kids. Room had it ALL, stove top, full size fridge, cups, plates, utensils you name it. So it was great to cook properly in our hotel for dinner. Now the best part as you all know, you travel with Kids. What are the must have? Poo! that is right. Oh My Word that POOL is amazing! It was a full on water park inside. That rainbow slide, with multi colors inside as you take couple loops until you are down at the bottom. The deep end, big enough for one to swim lanes. And then the water park/spray park fun, and the train slide for the little ones. Turn different wheels and see where the water comes out of. Hot tub which was nicer than most hot tubs. Walmart near the hotel so if you needed anything it was right there. Pool towels available for guests to use so you are not using your own, or room towels. The fitness gym was just on the other side of the pool, with a glass window so if you did want to watch your kids while they swam and work out you can. that Pool was so fun we had to do a morning swim before checkout. Breakfast was good. They had a staff working the waffle station. And breakfast was included.

Check in was fine but none of us were given information about how to log into the wifi. I was able to figure it out on my own but it definitely wasn't intuitive. The room itself was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. However, the pillows were extremely hard and bothered my neck. One of my colleagues made a similar comment about them as well. I also wasn't able to fully shut the drapes which let in too much light in the morning. The biggest issue with the room was that the outlets on the bedside table are too large for a standard plug. My iphone charger would fall right out of it and the USB plugs didn't work. Again, a colleague had the same issue in her room. I did really enjoy the complimentary breakfast. It had a good selection of vegetarian options for me though I could have done with a bit more fresh fruit.

Next morning at 9:30 we passed the front desk on our way to the breakfast room and the lady at the desk looked up and not even a good morning uttered from her lips. We entered the breakfast room poured our coffee then proceeded to dish up the warm food offerings of eggs and bacon. To our surprise the trays were completely empty. The lady working the kitchen said that after a "certain time" they did not make any more hot food!! WHAT??? We were there half an hour before the 10 o'clock closing and no hot food??!! Nonsense and the lady didn't even offer an apology for this. She had even turned off the toasting machine! So cold fruit cup and coffee for "breakfast". We headed out with luggage and the impersonal front desk lady and hit the road. McDonalds breakfast along the way.Comfort Inn you lost a customer for your idiotic breakfast policy and impersonal morning desk staff. The owners, Joe and Leonne are very friendly and accommodating and will set you up with a comfortable room and breakfast in the morning. Eileen at The Water Hole tavern makes this a great place to sit down with a pint of draught beer and a juicy steak from the steak pit. If you're in southern Alberta, the Patricia Hotel is worth checking out.
