I was really excited to try this place due to the rave reviews. But once we got there it was a disappointment. Whilst the ambience and interior is nice. The staff were pretentious and unhelpful. We waited in a queue, when we reached the counter and the baristas found out that we don't speak much Spanish, they ignored us and served other Spanish (and Catalan) speaking customers, telling us to sit down. After all the other customers were served, we expected a barista to come take our order but no, they walked off and went on their phones. We waited 20 minutes with no one coming over, so walked out. I've been to Satan's three times now, and I'll probably be back at some point. This coffee joint is difficult to find if you don't know your way around Barri Gothic, and it is very easy to get lost in the alleys. The space is very modern and in traditional Spanish style, feel free to grab a coffee and relax for hours with friends, or just by yourself. I've only been here for coffee, and it is quite strong. I can't handle my caffeine, so after drinking a caffe latte from Satan's, I'm spazzing out on it for the next 14 hours, minimum. They have a pretty simple coffee menu, and I still haven't quite gotten the food menu figured out. They have pastries sometimes, and the last time I went they were making some sort of soup, but I'm not sure if that was available to the public or not. Some other notes: no wifi, no decaf, the baristas speak Catalan, Spanish and English, water is readily available in jugs, and pay AFTER you've finished your coffee. To be honest. Some of the best coffee and cake in Barcelona. The staff are super friendly and the environment is warm and comfortable. Make sure you have a heavy purse though because the coffee is like liquid gold there, by price. But you can't put value on good coffee these days. Best flat white in Barcelona. This is the leading hipster coffee joint in Barcelona and is worth seeking out. The new location in the Gothic Quarter is really funky and well hidden down a little alleyway. The fitout is sparse and there are no couches for lingering or comfy tables for working. Instead there are nice bar stools and benches for socialising. The location is surprisingly airy and modern for the neighbourhood. The beans used were smooth, rounded and mellow. The milk texturing was as good as it's possible to get using Spanish milk (which isn't ideal for milky coffees). The service was a bit aloof and we couldn't figure out who to order from, or which random bench was the service counter. But all that adds to the hipster charm. Highly recommended for bringing New York, London, Auckland, Melbourne style coffee to Spain. read more

Satan's is a bit tucked away in the Gothic Quarter but it has excellent coffee, a chill environment and a cool vibe. As the sign says, this place has no wifi and no decaf; just high quality coffee and skilled baristas who know how to make a mean flat white. This is not a Starbucks or a quick in and out spot - they take their time making your coffee just right and leave you to sip it, chat and then pay whenever you are ready. The espresso had a great, almost sweet flavor and the milk texture was very smooth and creamy - neither of us needed to use any sugar. The portion size was generous for 2.2 euros. There are a few food options on the menu though we had just eaten so did not partake - seemed like multiple patrons around us were eating the pudding which looked quite tasty. They are cash only and do have somewhat limited seating, though you could certainly lean on one of the counters and watch people strolling by while you sip. read more

This place is sublime. Nothing more to describe it. The food is exceptional. The Chou Syoku is a requirement. My wife, who lived in Japan for many years, said that it was as good as it gets without being in Japan. Beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The muesli is another perfect meal. And, of course, the coffee is world class. Hard to expect better anywhere. The only downside is that it is a small space. It fills quickly. read more

Satan's coffee corner is another good Barcelona coffee shop. It seems to be mostly frequented by tourists, perhaps because it's located in the Barri Gothic. The coffee is quite good and relatively cheap (2.2€ for a cortado). I'd recommend to have it to stay: the inside of the shop is very bright and modern (it reminded me of one of the SF Blue Bottle location). You also get treated nicely: after ordering at the counter, you can go sit down and they'll bring it to you (you pay when you leave). It's very common in Europe but it still feels nice after spending some time in the US. The cortado was quite different from the (very) bitter drinks I usually get in NYC: here it was quite sweet, with no bitterness at all. In some ways it felt more like a cappuccino. Do you know that feeling when you enter a place and suddenly you feel at home? That happened to me during my visit at Satan's. It was the fiest coffee place I visited in Barcelona, just one day after my arrival, and it came across as a perfect coffee place: cosy interior, satanic branding and great food ((Japanese fusion!) to match a cup of coffee with, fully profesional (but in the same time super nice) staff and great coffee. Satan's is one of the most consistent coffee places in Barcelona. This place has been created only to enjoy good coffee - great but not too loud music in the background, no internet and screaming children. You won't find decaffeinated coffee here, but you will find a cup full of caffein from a local roastery. Coffee beans they are using might vary from one week to another but you can always read about the current one - the information card is always hung on the wall so you can read about the beans, its origin, aroma and flavour descriptors. They serve great coffee from the coffee machine but also use all alternative brewing methods such as Aeropress. read more

My wife and I were in Barcelona for our honeymoon, and stayed nearby at Hotel DO: Plaça Reial(which was great btw...). Anyways...I'm a coffee snob so I had to find a great coffee spot nearby and this place fit the bill perfectly. I got espresso here three of the days we were in town and it was great everytime. No problems ordering in my broken Spanish. The space is pretty small, but nice. Overall I'm a fan. I hope they are still here the next time that I visit. read more

Teeny tiny pretty cafe shop. It's easy to find quality coffee in Gothic area of Barcelona and this is one of the best. Price is normal. I payed €2 for an Americano. They sell some croissants and pastries as well and everyone is very friendly. The only thing is, it never seems like a place to take your friend there and sit there for hours. During a stay in Barcelona, I read up on local places to grab an invigorating and life-affirming cup of coffee, and quickly settled on Satan's Coffee Corner due to its glowing reviews. I went there first thing in the morning to grab some much needed fuel for my sleepy mind before setting out on a day of exploration, and this place was closed. As in, not open. I was there AFTER their opening time, and by all accounts there were lots of places nearby already open and serving breakfast and coffee; it wasn't the crack of dawn. It was quite disappointing. Chalk it up to someone oversleeping and not being there to open the door on time, or chalk it up to the taste of chalk, but for that reason I got my hopes up and had to settle for a cup of joe somewhere else. This is really tucked away and takes a bit of venturing to find, but it is definitely worth it! It is a cool little space that offers some sandwiches and oddly enough some Japanese noodle dishes. It also serves up the best coffee in Barcelona I had while there. I had the cold brew, which was one of the best I've ever had! I also ordered the shitake bowl and it was very lovely and healthy. It is a great little space, the service is a bit slow, as they don't seem to think people have anything else to get back to, but being on vacation, it was the right kind of pace.
