I like Emmaus Vintage. Having said that, I prefer Emmaus Second-Hand, right next door!…read more The vintage store is the underworld, quite literally. Whereas the second-hand shop is above ground, this one takes you down below into a cellar. But the best part is the stairway - the stone ceiling is always lavishly decorated, sometimes with flowers, sometimes with utensils! The store is pretty small but still has a decent collection, and has both mens' and womens' items. Vintage-loving men will like this place. The prices are too high in my opinion, but I'm a cheapskate - I prefer the second-hand store because it is both cheaper and larger, with a broader selection. I don't think I've ever bought something at the vintage store...but it's still worth a look. :)

I didn't end up buying anything second hand, but found and admired an English JAJ Pyrex dish. I did, however, purchased a cute kitty cutting/serving board, and a Stockholm dish towel, both were new and sourced locally. The lady that helped us was kind and super helpful. They take cash too if you decided to pull some out at the airport and haven't found a place to use it yet. Help them save some credit card fees. Cutest little shop!

The selection is definitely better, but wait, there's also a downstairs! That's where I really cleaned up. Though I didn't have as much time to dig as I wanted, I found a bunch of great uk indie stuff (josef k, girls at our best, marine girls, etc.) all in what I think was a new arrivals crate, but I'm not sure. Either way, this place had an overall amazing selection of vinyl and was only surpassed, in my opinion, by nostalgia palace.

As another reviewer noted, there is an upstairs -- where they also sell antiques and the like -- and a much larger downstairs. The records are organized by new arrivals (again, used and new) of mixed genre and then by rock, punk, metal, etc. The only downside is that there are so many records flipping thru the stacks involves removing some, flipping, putting back, repeat. Also tons of 45s. Save hours for this one -- definitely the best of the eight vinyl shops I've visited to date (or at least it's the one that I spent the most in; see: kid in a candy store). Nice owners, too!
