With a decently sized menu, there will be no shortage of dishes to try. We elected to go for some Spanish classics and their featured dishes, which included their Creamy Rice with Lobster, Traditional Tripe Stew, and Aged Beer Rib-eye. The creamy rice with lobster is essentially a risotto, with the rice being cooked al dente. While the texture is nice, because of the smaller portion of lobster and the lack of flavor, by the end it feels like you're just left with a bowl of undercooked rice. The traditional tripe stew was quite good, with the beef being extremely tender and chewy. The rib-eye itself was a large cut, however, a good portion of the meat is fat. Additionally, it's only seasoned with a light touch of salt, so at the end of the day also lacking a bit. If you want to come to El Pimiento Verde, it's primarily for the ambience. The food itself is fine, though nothing to call home about. If you're short on time and looking for places to experience Spanish cuisine, this is probably one restaurant that can be skipped.

In terms of food, there were some great components--the snout was super tender and the sauce that came with it was very flavorful. However, I found that some of the other dishes were chewy in texture, and that the refinement of the flavorful was lacking for a menu of this price. The idea of using offal for dessert is certainly interesting, but it felt like they were adding ingredients for the sake of creativity, and felt like they didn't actually belong in the dish. I had an early reservation compared to local dining habits, so the restaurant was very empty during my dinner. This probably contributed somewhat to the service feeling a bit uncomfortable, but overall it was a bit cold and it felt like the staff were staring me down as I ate my meal.

But most of them average a months pay but this one is only a little expensive (under 200 Euro for two). We were able to make reservations on their website, it's very close to the Nuevos Minesterios Metro station, though you need to pay attention to signs, that is a huge station. Near a beautiful high end shopping mall if you need a Rolex or the like. When we got to the restaurant it seemed oddly familiar, yes we knew it from Eva Longoria's travel through Spain limited series. In the Madrid episode she looked like she really enjoyed the food here in spite of the fact that it is locally sourced offal. Of course she's an actress but it turns out she wasn't acting, the chef is a brilliant creative Spanish chef who has been inspired by traditional rural cooking from poor areas that learned to make every part of farm animals and weeds taste good. The many courses sound pretty scary but try to ignore what they are made of and savor the unique complex flavors, it's ecstasy. Unlike high class restaurants in the States, a couple of glasses of good wine will not significantly add to the bill. Don't fill up on the delicious bread. Even dessert was a complicated combination of flavors I've never encountered and I've eaten a lot of different meals around the world. Every course was a work of art, visually and to taste. A place like this is why I don't like to dole out 5 star reviews like that's the norm. This is a definite 5 YELP star dining experience. The chef and many of the staff from the television show were here, his book is for sale and he will autograph it. However if it puts you even a kilo over your luggage limit, TAP Air Portugal will nail you with a 100 Euro fee.

It was packed to the gills (pun intended) with immaculate product coming in throughout the day, laid out in a dizzying variety that looked as beautiful as it tasted. You won't find much in terms of elaborate dishes here. O'Grelo is all about the fresh catch itself. We loved it so much we went two nights in a row. Over those visits we bulldozed our way through oysters, sea urchin, carabinero prawns, langoustines, razor clams, percebes, and a handful of other crustacean curiosities I couldn't even name before this meal, "slipper lobsters" among them. Many of the species on offer were new to me, yet every plate arrived pristine and delicious, proof that ingredient quality and careful handling do most of the talking here. In a city spoiled for extraordinary food, O'Grello still stands out. It's un-touristed, fairly priced for the caliber, and run with care. Not too cartoonish, just the proper decor to make you feel in the Spanish traditional mood. We started with the Steak Tartar de Bellota sobre tuétano asado a la brasa, a bold yet well-balanced dish. The beef was fresh, finely cut, and seasoned with precision, allowing the quality of the meat to shine. The roasted bone marrow added depth and richness without overwhelming the tartare, and the toasted bread on the side brought crunch to each bite. One of the highlights and favorites was the Arroz meloso de la huerta, cooked with coconut milk. Creamy and aromatic, the rice had a smooth, comforting texture with a subtle coconut note that added more flavor rather than sweetness. The vegetables brought freshness and balance, making it easy to see why this is a favorite of the head chef, especially when paired with a glass of ICENI, Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz, which sparks aromatic notes to this recipe. Another standout was the Puntillitas de Isla Cristina con Parmentier de Trufa y Huevo Frito. An Andalucian authentic dish. The puntillitas were crispy and perfectly cooked. The truffled parmentier added richness, while the fried egg blends everything. To accompany the meal, the marinated olives were a simple nice add-on. Service is well delivered. Overall, Triana delivers a confident and reliable dining experience. A traditional not too pretentious spot to bring friends coming from abroad with no unnecessary theatrics. Well-executed dishes, quality ingredients, and a traditional neighborhood atmosphere that you can go back to if you are in the area.

The restaurant has a modern, clean setting, and the waitstaff was patient with us as we tried to decide and order our dishes. We started with the ensalada of guacamole and shrimp "tartar"--on a round bed of mashed avocado sat little pieces of shrimp, which simply bursted with flavor! There was also a creamy dressing on the dish that brought together the creaminess of the avocado with the bright flavors of the seafood. Next, we had the "false risotto" with little chopped up pieces of shrimp, squid, and plankton--the dish was warming and delicious with deep seafood flavors (better than the tourist paella found all over Madrid), though the rice seemed a little bit underdone to me. Both of these were great dishes, and great discoveries, though they were a little bit pricey for the relatively small portion sizes.
