I canceled ONE appointment on August 24 because I was sick with severe nausea and a migraine. Despite this, I was charged THREE separate $100 cancellation fees -- $300 for ONE cancellation. I contacted the office immediately after the first charge, explained the situation and the financial hardship it caused, and asked for it to be addressed. The original $100 should have been refunded. Instead, I was charged another $200. I have dated emails and billing records documenting everything. What is most disturbing is the lack of compassion, accountability, and ethical treatment from a mental health counseling center. People seek counseling during vulnerable and stressful times. Being charged $300 for one cancellation after notifying my therapist that I was sick only added significant financial and emotional stress. I expected far better from a mental health provider and strongly recommend that patients carefully monitor any card kept on file with this practice.
