Christine and her staff work tirelessly to look after their guests - be they tourists, pilgrims, pilgrimage helpers or stagiaires. Nothing seems to much to ask them. The Sainte Marie is conveniently located near the Pont St Michel right at the entrance to the Sanctuaries and overlooks the rapidly flowing river Gave. The sound of rushing water is everywhere which, for me at least, is very soothing. Accomodation can be booked on a B&B basis or full/half board. For those on a budget there are rooms which can booked for 3 or 4 sharing. The hotel has recently been refurbished and all rooms are en suite and have satellite TV and air-conditioning. There is a hotel TV lounge at the reception level which has comfortable armchairs and coffee tables. A small bar next to the reception serves a cosy seating area where you can relax after a long day. For visitors with cars there is a locked car park in front of the hotel.

The rooms are simple, and very clean. The breakfast was typiquement francais - with croissant, tartine, juice, and a hot drink. The view from our room was spectacular and the sound of the river was very peaceful. We hope to come back again, and when we do, we will stay at Hotel Sainte Marie!

The hotel staff did a phenomenal job accommodating our 60 guests by caring for their needs throughout the weekend. The dinner party exceeded our expectations as the food and service was incredible. Following the wedding, our friends and family consistently kept referring to the friendly staff and high quality of service that The Mercure hotel provided. The staff went above and beyond by doing their best to accommodate the language barrier while never making us feel incompetent for our inability to communicate in their language.
