Almost all the markets in the Asheville area only carry frozen/defrosted seafood. I was born in a little fishing village in New England, three houses from the docks, and am used to buying fish directly from the boat, so frozen just wasn't getting me what I craved. Locals Seafood has its own trucks to bring in fish fresh from the boats on the North Carolina coast. This might lead to slightly higher costs than at the megamarts, but premium quality is always worth at least that, if not more. Over the last month I have tried their Tile Fish, Swordfish, Snapper and Black Drum, and every meal was wonderful, the fish was pristine fresh, firm and flaky. The staff is great, very friendly and attentive, and always willing to share cooking tips and tricks. the store is squeaky clean, all the fresh fish resting on ice, which they pack with your fish to keep it cold on the way home. Customer service was very informative as I received emails at every stage of my order. Now to the best part the Trout is awesome!! Fresh, mild flavor, and perfectly pink colored. This is some of the best Trout my family and I have ever eaten. My 8 yr old grandson absolutely loved it and the Lusty Monk mustard is great on everything. I have watched several videos online and they seem to have a very well ran operation. There facilities appear to be very beneficial to the Trout and the local environment. I will definitely be ordering more products from this awesome company.

A TV show was blasting at top volume in the kitchen area and it was not enjoyable for me to sit and enjoy my lunch. I felt pressured to take my meal to go and was ultimately disappointed by the small portion size and the rickety unlevel table out front. I am obsessed with poke bowls and I live locally but I won't make a point to go back unfortunately.

I recommend the fried offerings, shrimp shumai, the egg rolls for sure, they are excellent. The dumplings are fine, the octopus balls are great, but off the menu I think. The dipping sauces for these is a favorite of mine. I typically get a sushi burrito. I recommend a spicy hot cheeto in one, it weirdly works with the right combination of stuff. The marinated tuna is alright and so is a shrimp tempura as protein. Otherwise, whatever you like. I typically do carrots, edamame, oshinko (pickled, radish I suspect), maybe seaweed salad. Avocado is nice, but of course has an up upcharge. Pretty good, the poke bowls are decent too, I hear.

We came to town early (we had a dinner reservation) and were planning on pre-gaming. I knew we were in a special place when I saw their Lake Ontario Lager, which fit with my wardrobe choice for the day...a HOMES/Great Lakes tshirt :) As I said, we came in for drinks, but saw the menu and had to have a snack. My husband started with two delicious oyster shooters. They were so good, we had to try the deviled eggs. I'm not an oyster fan, at all, but those deviled eggs...omg...so good, and perfectly complemented by that salty, crunchy oyster. Yes, we had dinner reservations in a few hours, but couldn't resist some peel and eat shrimp! Everything was experienced was so perfect. Food, drinks, and just the cozy, welcoming environment and staff. Just the kind of place I could settle in and stay a while, which is what we did. Next time, definitely planning on staying for a full meal, as everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing.
