I always love Santa Clara Ice Cream when we're in Mexico City! There's a couple of locations along Simón Bolívar, the main street connecting the Palace of Fine Arts to the Zocolo. We got the Pistachio and Seasonal Truffle Chocolate which has liqueur. Both were fantastic and I loved how creamy and rich the ice cream is. The pistachio had nice chunks of pistachio in it and the truffle liqueur flavor was very strong. A bit pricy at close to 120 pesos for 2 scoops but worth the price in my opinion. The seasonal/artisanal flavors are priced higher than the regular ones. There's also a good number of seats inside to sit and eat as well as a coffee station. read more

One thing that was very shocking to me on my trip to Mexico City, was the amount of ice cream shops in the city center and wherever I went really. There is one in every block it seems. We came to Santa Clara because it was the one with the most stores, we figured it must be good. After a little difficulty ordering, we finally got our sharable sundae. It was very pretty but uncomfortable eating it that is for sure. It came in a long very think flute type glass. The spoon did not reach all the way to the bottom, and a lot of the ice cream fell. Also they take the time to put layers of ham and fruit, but it is impossible to eat it with the ice cream so when you get to it, you just have a bunch of too sweet jam. Customer service wasn't as great either. They acted line they didn't understand what I was tying to say, when I speak Spanish fluently. Alas it was tasty, I mean c'mon, its ice cream!! read more

Very cheap ice cream, kind of sad! Not recommended unless you are trying to waste 90 pesos, then that's your place!

The staff is as cold as the product. And the product is more like bryers than Ben and Jerry's, so at $3.50 a scoop, it's definitely a steal - in favor of the rich owners. Also, they have no bathroom, so all you get for your $3.50 is a cold shoulder and chilled fluff. read more
