Catching up a number of unfinished reviews…read more.. A sorority tea held at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX was a delightful experience from beginning to end. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by a sea of beautifully styled, bright and beautiful fascinators and hats, each one more charming than the last. The attention to detail in everyone's attire set the tone for the afternoon - pastels, polka dots, and neon. The tables were a vision of loveliness - tiers of sweet treats that were as lovely to look at as they were to consume. Delicate pastries, dainty petit four desserts, and perfectly portioned confections paired in concert with the variety of teas offered. Laughter flowed easily, cameras came out often, and there was a shared appreciation for this tea tradition mixed with personal individualized styling. The hats and fascinators added a playful elegance. We truly felt like we were having an English High tea. In addition, the tables were a sight to behold...layers of sweet treats that delighted both the eyes and the palate. There were delicate pastries, dainty petits fours, and perfectly-sized confections, all beautifully coordinated with an array of teas. The sisterly atmosphere made the tea uniquely memorable. Laughter was flowing effortlessly; cameras frequently captured those unforgettable moments. The hats and fascinators brought a touch of playful elegance. It was a graceful convergence of fashion, sweetness, and sisterhood. The tea wasn't just about the food and drink, it was about connection and celebrating each together.

My cohort became a small family, we had some disagreements but at the end of the day were always there for each other (instructors included). As for my reasoning why I put 4 stars instead of 5... If my rating was solely based on the PTA program I would've given 5 stars. Let's just start by saying the financial aid department is a HOT MESS. I can't even begin to tell you guys how many issues I had. Whether it was constantly being notified about a balance (which was paid for), having a member of financial aid accuse my mother of not signing documents correctly (parent loan) or going to financial aid meetings and having them say, "everything looks good, I'm not sure why you were scheduled for a meeting," and lastly them not taking off certain fees. I met with a different person almost every time I went in to see someone. No one stuck around very long in general. Angela was the only good thing about the financial aid department.

This review is regarding the interactions via email that I had with the graduate programs director,…read moreDOCTOR Kathy Smith. Lots of emphasis on DOCTOR. After being accepted to the Texas State nurse practitioner program, I received communications from the university and the graduate studies department. Email instructions which appeared to contradict each other, or mislead the receiver somewhat, and made the university seem disorganized. Wanting to be conscientious, I sent a respectful email to DOCTOR Smith, asking politely for clarification. Her response was ridiculously arrogant and made it very clear that she was irritated by the email I had sent her for clarification. There was no explanation or apology for the different messages that I received from the university vs the graduate nursing department, and she made a point of stressing that students must refer to her as DOCTOR Smith. I have no problem with that, of course, since I'm sure she worked hard for her doctorate. Her rudeness, arrogance and obviously impatient attitude was a dealbreaker for me, the last straw after the other aggravating issues with Texas State University. I immediately decided to attend a different school, because DOCTOR Smith's behavior made it seem like a very bad idea to deal with this school for an entire 15 months! I'm happily attending grad school elsewhere, even though it is more expensive and the program is longer.

However, I also went through a very serious incident that the university failed to address appropriately. While I was in the gym, professor Michael Farrell walked in and said: "I have a complaint. The h*es, b*tches, motherfers, and *n-words* playing music are unacceptable."* I immediately reported this to the school. Instead of taking decisive action, the administration had me meet with a staff member from Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion. She was kind and supportive, but it quickly became clear that the university's priority was for me to process my feelings -- not to hold Mr. Farrell accountable. The administration refused to give me updates on whether he faced consequences, and shockingly, I later saw him return to a campus event I was working at the very same semester. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. It was incredibly disappointing to see such harmful language and behavior treated so lightly. St. Edward's leadership had the chance to show that racism would not be tolerated on campus, but instead, they chose inaction. While I appreciated many parts of my time here, students deserve a university where they can trust that leadership will protect them from blatant racism.

Yes of course as a private school it can be an expensive place but if you're able to get some good financial help then it is def worth the price for your degree. They will take the time to make sure that you understand and learn the information that they are trying to teach you. If you come to this great school, you will not be disappointing.

Their programs in communications, business, physical therapy, and geology/geography are particularly well thought of. I can't speak to the housing situation, but the campus itself is beautiful, with the hilly terrain, well landscaped areas, and the San Marcos river itself. And yeah, while it does have a rep as a party school, so does UT at Austin, and that doesn't seem to hurt anything. (grin!) If you're a parent considering this school for your kids, it's worth a visit at the very least.
