Disclaimer: I had a review that I took down several months ago because the owner somewhat remedied the issue, but seemingly not in good faith. The prices also appear to be more in line now with what I was charged at the time.
Went here on advice of a work friend. First visit was OK, and the price was reasonable. I wasn't enamored, but it was a U.S. holiday, & they had a special voucher offer for future visits and so decided to try them again. If memory serves, the voucher was worth about 2 visits for the price of one (if I had the same service as before). A couple months went by, and I booked a root color in addition to the cut; the price on the website was fair and happily, it looked like I would have some of the voucher left over. I am hereditarily prematurely grey, so I usually do my own color at home.
The stylist did not remember me at all, which made it a bit awkward. She did my roots and went to do other things while the dye set, so our interaction was polite but distant. I ended up being the last client when complete (even though they were still open another 30+ minutes). When it came time to pay, I was feeling like a "nuisance" for being there so late (again, they were still not closed; I just felt rushed out) and (this part is my fault) did not look closely at the receipt.
The next day, I realized I'd been charged far more than a regular full(single) process color would cost (let alone the cut), so I double-checked the website before calling. The stylist did not remember me again (!) and after chatting a second, she said she did remember me after all (I was not convinced; I think she was trying to get me off the phone), and that she was sorry but the only person who could do credits (note I only asked for a credit to the voucher, NOT cash) was Sandy herself, who was in Africa. So after calling several times over the next couple weeks, it was evidently determined between calls that I had had my whole head done AND the stylist had had to go back and mix even more color. Again, the stylist did not remember me after two visits, nor when I called the following workday! I politely said that that they must be confusing me with another client, but Sandy was adamant that her stylist was right: "I have to stand by my girls," she remarked, which is understandable and noble under other circumstances, but not this one. Her tone of voice during the entire conversation indicated that not only was I a liar, I was causing trouble, neither of which were my intention. I just wanted what was advertised on their site! She finally relented and agreed to credit me a small amount toward my next visit, which I reluctantly agreed to.
I came back on a Saturday and had my hair cut by a nice and chatty lady, but the whole time I was in there, it was very awkward, and I got the impression I was no longer welcome in the salon, which is an absolute first. I gave her a large tip though, because she deserved it.
I think what happened is I was accidentally overcharged, and instead of owning up to the mistake, it was put on the client (in this case, me). Frankly, it really hurt my feelings that I was all but called a liar and made to feel unwelcome when I returned to try them for the THIRD time. I have no reason to believe this is common practice in this establishment; after all, mistakes happen all the time. It was the manner in which it was resolved that was what made it an unpleasant experience and a place I would not recommend to anybody, which is too bad. read more
