Again I've had another outstanding food experience!!!! Don't know how I get so lucky. Calle 47 is a relatively new foodie spot in Centro Merida it was just recently revitalized with the opening of the gran Parque La Plancha. We were out walking at the parque and decided it was time to explore Calle 47 stopped in at Sandunga Cocina. The interior was so welcoming, we grabbed a table, one of the owners (sorry forgot his name but he lived in Salt Lake City) he presented us with menus, both in Spanish and English halleluja! we started with the guacamole the kick on this one was it had ants in it not that they were crawling, but that's a specialty of Oaxaca DELICIOUS! Two of us the fish of the day which was a delicious sea bass from Campeche it was in a bed of rice mixed with a Oaxaca cheese fresh vegetables, greens, asparagus, and mushrooms. My other friend had a chicken enchilada in a spicy red Molay didn't have enough room to try it, but she said it was outstanding she finished every bite. Two of us enjoyed a Oaxacan drink made with cacao and something else so sorry next time I'll take better notes but it was served ice cold in a bowl. It was delicious and of course one of us had a beer but not me this time. This is definitely a restaurant. I will return. I would like to try their whole menu. They say the brunch on Sunday is just totally outstanding. I'm ready to give it a try.. read more
