My husband and I had recently celebrated our third wedding anniversary, and so we were looking for somewhere nice to spend a couple of nights. I dont think we could have asked for nicer :) We had a one bedroom apartment on the 10th floor overlooking the ocean. The Oakes Mon Komo is part of a bigger building that has some residential accomodation as well. There are two towers to the building, the Residential tower and the Oakes tower. The Oakes tower has a range of apartments, a mix of 1,2 and 3 bedroom apartments. With a choice of Ocean View or non Ocean View. In my opinion it is DEFINITELY worth paying the little bit extra for the ocean view - the view that we had was spectacular and the sea breeze was just divine :) The apartment was fully equipped, with fully kitchen (including stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher), laundry with washer and dryer, and a fantastic balcony! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the whole experience from an accommodation point for view was great. However, the one and only thing that I do have to complain about was the food from the restaurant. On our first night there - we ordered take away food from the restaurant downstairs. I had to go down and collect it, and my husbands risotto was great. However, the food that my sister and I ordered left a lot to be desired. We ordered a cheese platter, which was fine, and a bowl of chips which were served in a styrofoam container, and so they were VERY soggy by the time I got them back to our room, and although I ordered them with tomato sauce as well as aioli, there was no sauce to be seen. But with the food aside, the accommodation experience was fantastic. :) As far as accommodation goes, this is a definite YES. Just maybe choose one of the many other options for food in the area. :)

The menu is a little expensive for what I would consider to be bistro style food. We settled on the beer battered Fish and Chips for twenty-one bucks a plate. It was well presented and tasted fresh but it didn't stand out from any other fish and chip plate I have had in the past. The customer service was friendly but in a superficial kind of way, I didn't feel like my experience was really all that important to them. If you go to Bribie Hotel, look for Nev! The pub was clean and large. Sports Bar, Pokies, Bistro. The usual. There was a lot on the menu so something for everyone. They were out of a few things which was disappointing, but oh well. The bar staff was also friendly and we won prizes for buying their beer special. It was clean, quiet, not dark but my boyfriend used sheets to cover the window. Comfy sheets and OK pillows. The was a ensuite with shower, toilet and sink. I managed to have a good sleep. The guy only charged us for the couple of hours. The room had a small fridge, TV and wasn't too bad. Although the whole room smelt like chlorine from the pool. Weird. Anyway, I actually expected it to be worse. I would stay there again if I need a cheap place to sleep off a hangover and I was nearby. 2 star motel but 4 stars for recovery!

The fries were crispy and the little salad had a nice vinaigrette. My friend said his chicken parmesan schnitzel was just ok. The red sauce he thought was likely from a can, but he felt like he needed to rush through eating to get it down before it got any colder. Nearly immediately after we finished eating, our plates were bussed. Normally I'd give just 3 stars as the overall experience was rather mediocre, but for speed of service and that they got a bit creative I felt with their menu and the pricing, bumping it up to 4. Added bonus - this place shares a roof with a drive through liquor store so you can unwind at home after your dinner.
