#2 -bandera: great!

Great lunch spot! Got takeout from here on a weekday and ordered the #2 Bandera. The beef tripe stew and shrimp ceviche were both pretty good, the goat stew was fantastic. I had a bit of leftovers afterwards and still felt super full. Would love to try some other things on their menu. Definitely worth checking out!

What amazes me that post pandemic the price is never changed. When you order a grilled chicken dinner it comes with a small salad, rice and sweet plantain. You also have a choice of french fries or beans. Ordering directly from the restaurant. You save an additional 10% which is a nice perk, to be honest, the dinner could feed to. I usually get to meals out of it and food is delicious the next day as well. I love to Support local !

Fries they delivered on Jan 19, 2018

So our company ordered lunch today from this Latin restaurant. Of course I ordered a hamburger and fries -- which I won't do again. Everyone's food looked good but mine was ouch! My burger was 100% charred (a frozen patty), cooked until it was dry as a textbook from 1923. The fries--well, take a look at the photo and judge for yourself. The problem with these small restaurants, is they cook, then hold, then re-cook their fries. You never get fresh fries--ever--what you get is re-cooked potato pieces. Moral of the story - Latin restaurants are where you go for latin food. They should lay off the burgers and fries--so should I. In the future I will get some arroz y pollo or something. Cheers.

Update Review I have eaten here over a dozen times Dine in & Take out! This place has grown on me, it has become my official Colombian spot in Astoria. It's a small restaurant w/ limited seating & plenty of metered street parking. The decor & ambiance is old fashioned & traditional exactly how I like it. The waitresses are all super friendly the prices are dirt cheap for massive portions! They even offer a lunch special.. as for adult beverages Beer & Wine. This spot is truly a restaurant, where everyone & anyone will enjoy. The food has gotten really tasty. My recommendation is always the Bendeja Paisa a never miss ( Grilled Steak, Fried Pork, Eggs, Avocado, Sweet Plantain, Rice & Beans) This meal is enough for 2 hungry individuals. They definitely are not cheap with the PORTIONS! You know the food is good, when u see every employee actually eat the food they serve!

This is what Sandra's calls a lomo saltado. They should be ashamed! ASHAMED sending this out... they're completely tokd

Comida porqueria!!!! I ordered a lomo saltado and got a garbage piece of meat in a plate of oil with colored mushrooms that was supposed to represent peppers and onions. This was gross. A waste of money! I would've been better just licking the bottom of my oven for sustenance.

Seafood casserole

Don't EVER order the seafood casserole. It's repulsive. Disgusting. I don't usually leave negative reviews but this was truly revolting food. Also, it said sweet plantains and I got dry, savory plantains.

Fried chicken came with salad and beans

I ordered fried chicken for my dinner. It was a quick delivery, the chicken was good, good price with a lot of food. Just everything was very bland. It just came with a spicy sauce wasn't enough. The salad didn't have any dressing even though they asked me what kind of dressing I want.

Humita
Patricia T.

Excellent food!! It was my last day in NYC and I stopped in here as a good bye meal. I wanted to order one of everything but settled for an humita, and a bolon with churrasco. It was perfect!! The humita was moist and full of flavor. The bolon and churassco were huge. The chicharrón I'm the bolon was crispy and meaty while the plantain was moist and flavorful and the meat of the churrasco was tender. And the egg yolk was runny as it is suppose to be!! I wish I had visited this spot sooner but I'll be back for sure!

Chufa rice. So flipping GOOD!!!!!

Quick delivery, delicious pernil, and the beans are spot on. Huge portions that last me for about 3 meals and SO cheap.

Food is not bad not great either. Also, this is an Ecuadorian restaurant with some Colombian dishes.

Cheap take out place that gives you lots of food for $12. I love their crispy chicken that comes with a banana, salad and rice.

Why 4 stars? Because these arepas were different, but enjoyable…read more --- --- --- To-date, I apparently have only had Venezuelan arepas and wasn't aware of how different Colombian arepas were. Colombian arepas (or at least the ones here) come with a sweet, corn tortilla and are more open faced: to be eaten with a fork. In the past, I've had flour tortillas that are designed more like a taco and eaten as a handheld. So despite the differences, I (and my friends) enjoyed our meal. Let the official record state, I ordered the arepas con queso with chorizo. We had plans to eat our way through Jackson Heights, but because a couple of the places we planned to visit were closed, we actually just mostly hung out here and enjoyed our arepas of the sweet and open-faced variety. It was a good afternoon.

This was my first time trying an arepa, and honestly it was one of the best introductions I could…read morehave asked for. Before this, if someone mentioned arepas, I probably would have confused them with pupusas, which I'd only seen at street fairs and thought of as more of a sweet item. I had no idea they came in savory versions too. I went with the carne asada arepa, and the beef was fresh, juicy, and cooked just right. It's so common for places to overcook little chunks of beef, but here it was perfect. Each arepa is big enough to split between two people, so the price feels very fair. The filling was generous, with beef packed inside and even overflowing out the sides. They also serve the arepas with a rack of five or six sauces to choose from. Some were spicy, and one had a sweet condensed milk flavor if you like a mix of sweet and savory. My go to ended up being this green mayonnaise sauce which I assumed was like some sort of a lime mayo, which added the perfect tartiness to the rich cheese filling.
