Sandra Kahloun's Oriental Dance Academy in Nice, France is the real deal. Sandra is by far best raks sharqi (aka 'bellydance') teacher I've come across so far. Her method teaches you how to improvise, which means studying music closely, learning dance vocabulary and technique in a highly structured manner, and lots and lots of in-class practice. Prepare to be moved out of your comfort zone. She also regularly organises excellent workshops on various topics, often bringing live musicians (a joy!), and also hosting cabaret soirées and shows.
