Yelp needs an updated review for this hotel! Stayed here last weekend of July/beginning of August and it was a top tier experience! The staff were all very polite and helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool was clean and maintained. The area around the hotel felt very safe, nobody loitering nearby, just hotel guests coming and going. Outside doors are all locked and open with your room key. A great property worth staying at for sure! I will book here again. read more

April 26, 2021 Disgusting hotel. DON'T waste your money staying here. I am sitting in my room, with the window open because the room smells. The room faces the parking lot and with the window open their is a constant smell of pot and or cigarette smoke. Hotel is old, smelly and needs major renovation. Chairs in the room are dirty, I can only imagine how clean the carpet is!! Tried to get a refund and leave but front desk said No refund. read more

Room was dirty, had bugs in the room! Stink bug landed on me whilst laying in bed, also took 3 stink bugs out of our room prior to that! Front desk manager was very impatient and not particularly friendly! Did not seem like she wanted to help us out with anything! Only time she was nice was when we were leaving! Continental breakfast was terrible. No selection, bad food, worst continental breakfast I've experience. Also not included in your rate which was a first for me! Would not recommend! read more

I stay in many hotels for work and travel around Western Canada often, and I can honestly say I've never had a fantastic stay at a Sandman Hotel. Castlegar is no different. It's a typical older Sandman hotel. Lobby looks fantastic/freshly renovated (perhaps to lure in the unsuspecting?) Rooms are small, with 90's decor, wall coverings and tile in the bathroom (old and dirty). Carpets are worn/stained. Housekeeping leaves much to be desired (other peoples' hair all over beds/pillows, food on carpet). I feel like I should keep my shoes on. Definitely wouldn't book here again. It appears not many other people do either (the place is basically deserted). My advice? Stay in Trail at the Best Western. read more

This was a great place to stay! The beds super comfy and a very nice modern upgraded hotel. The pool is awesome as well enjoyed a swim shortly after checking in. Great location close to lots of restaurants and shops for anything you need even for being in the non downtown part of Castlegar. read more

This review is for the Sandman Hotel restaurant. As a child every time a member of my family died I'd end up here after the funeral for the buffet. None of the food was very good. It was never a good experience. Whatever. read more

They need twice as many front desk staff, and the wireless is a joke -- the access point only covers the lobby, and once you go down there it's still latency of upwards of a second, so I wouldn't rate it as actually working. read more
