For the Eiscafe Sanremo in Maulburg: While maintaining my residency in the US, I've lived in Maulburg, Germany, for over 11 years now. For great gelato - that's Italian ice cream and/or sherbet - the Eiscafe' Sanremo is and has been our best place here in Maulburg. It's about a 5-minute walk from the train stop. On good-weather days, people come here on bicycles from miles around! With several flavors of gelato, both traditional and inventive, at 1 EUR per scoop, you can afford this. You can walk away (even hike into the nearby Schwarzwald = Black Forest) with a cone, or sit down and choose from a full menu of ice cream sundaes, and coffee and other drinks. They often offer other desserts like tiramisu or apple strudel. Don't miss the California Pizza Express next door. With Pizza Margherita (cheese) at 5.40 EUR, and Pizza Hawaii (ham and pineapple) at 7.40 EUR, it is an economical choice too. For eating in, on Mondays all pasta dishes are 5 EUR each, and on Tuesdays, all pizzas are 5 EUR each. read more
