A Britton classic! I…read morehad heard so many folks talk up the KreeMee that I decided it was finally time to check it out. And it more than lived up to the hype! Whether you're craving good old fashioned soft-serve, or you're looking for cutting edge ice cream technology (soft serve AND a slushee? Come on!) the KreeMee has it all. I got a Snickers-flavored cyclone - basically, some sort of super-milkshake with snickers bits swirled into it. The staff were really helpful and even let me customize how much fudge went in. As for how it tasted? Imagine a snickers bar rolled up in a blanket of ice cream. You want that, right? We also sampled a Slushwhip, the soft-serve/slushee hybrid, which was a really refreshing counterpoint to the rich chocolate goodness of my cyclone. And if course, some cheese bites were the perfect deep-fried complement to the ice cream. Like I said before, there's a pretty simple way to wind this one up: the KreeMee has it all. Highly recommend!

I didn't think the employees were particularly welcoming. They seemed a bit stony and not super helpful when I was picking a size to order (the scoops per size aren't labeled). The playground in the back is really cool and old, but kind of dangerous for smaller children. We figured out quickly that the slide was not appropriate for our four year old who likes to slide under the rail. Beware of this if you have little kids. The purple cow chair is a super cute photo op too.

The Lunch Box is truly a GEM in an out-of-the-way small town…read more Generally, they simply make sandwiches - obscenely delicious, sophisticated, gourmet sandwiches. Delicious, unique sandwiches. There is usually a "Specialty of the Week" like this one: THE SMOKEY BLEU WRAP - Smoked Brisket, Sauteed Onions & Peppers, Romaine, Spinach, Avocado, Tomato, Bleu Cheese Dressing & BBQ Sauce in A Tomato Basil Wrap. Otherwise, their basic menu is made of similarly unique, but now-standard sandwiches, that they will deliver to locals. Everything is perfect. The meat is braised to tenderness. Everything is fresh and aromatic. They host specialty nights as well - Seafood, Asian, Christmas Around the World, Italian. It's excellent cooking at a level of sophistication that simply isn't found in this area, or anywhere. Not in Britton, not in Aberdeen, not in Fargo, not in the states of South Dakota or North Dakota. What are you waiting for? Eat up! FOOD: 5/5 Stars - Amazing! PRESENTATION: 5/5 Stars - little placards describing each specialty dish would be nice. SERVICE: 3/5 Stars - There's no wait-service. You serve yourself. Best Thanksgiving Turkey-Alternative of 2012!…read more I've eaten many kinds feathered things with beaks and wings, including pigeon, quail, guineafowl, duck, goose, ostrich - as long as it's legal, I'll try it! and of course turkey and chicken - and I have to say, I loved growing up NOT having to eat turkey every Thanksgiving. Allow me to explain - that white piece of stereotypically boring, tough, dry meat is a tradition to keep your mouth occupied so you don't push your second cousin out of the closet at the dinner table by accident and is an impressive dish for the table. AMIRITE? I wasn't sure what to expect when my sister ordered a whole smoked goose online from Schlitz and had it shipped to my office. The cardboard box came with styrofoam panels and one reusable ice pack, and the bird was sealed in an odd-shaped aluminum bubble-wrap envelope. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/schlitz-foods-inc-sisseton?select=1pkvMR3Z7YO52VM00hChIw#d_xpY1eefbv5ZGQPUnTb1g The goose arrived much bigger than I imagined. Having the hickory chip-smoked bird for Thanksgiving dinner was a brilliant idea. Fully cooked and big as a small turkey. The only instructions were to reheat in the oven at 350 degrees for an hour before serving. While the goose was getting warmed up, we whipped up all the sides and dinner was ready in an hour. The goose came out sizzling http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/schlitz-foods-inc-sisseton?select=1pkvMR3Z7YO52VM00hChIw#1pkvMR3Z7YO52VM00hChIw and turned more beautiful than when it went into the oven. With the electric knife, we sawed off slices onto the serving plate. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/schlitz-foods-inc-sisseton?select=1pkvMR3Z7YO52VM00hChIw#-SfwZ77sa8ja61O55uKXwQ The skin was mouth-watering-ly golden. Interestingly, the meat was red and the texture reminded me of pastrami. It was moist, healthy like duck and chicken, and simply delicious. Even more so was the drumstick. That meat off the bone was definitely worth it to fight over. It also went well with our freshly prepared cranberry sauce. Besides all that good meat, you can render the goose fat to cook your potatoes or vegetables or store for later use. The crispy skin turned into crackling and it was addictive...like crack! We ate all the skin off that bird that night. The ordering experience my sister had with Schlitz seemed normal as expected. Customer service was real-time, American, and reachable. My sister called Schlitz to request a delay in the shipping by a few days because of my out-of-office plans, and they happily obliged. She got the tracking number right away and the bird was delivered earlier than expected. No problems. Would we do this again? As long as we are hosting Thanksgiving, we'll definitely have smoked goose again!
