This is a mixed review because I want to acknowledge some good things I found in Sam' certain things in addition to one that was really disturbing.
1. NEVER use Devlyn Optics for an exam or anything that demands any medical experience. Thinking that these people were opticians and perfectly safe to examine me and refill my contact lens Rx was a terrible mistake. I became uncomfortable during the exam and should have trusted the voice that says something is wrong. After being examined and trying on a contact lens that the woman said was my RX and clearly was not, I had to go for treatment to an ophthalmologist the following day who informed me the pain and inflammation in my eye, was due to a scratched cornea and an infection from a damaged and contaminated contact lens. When she found out where I had been, she literally said, "They are the worst. They are not doctors and do not have the training necessary to do what they are doing." In America, people who examine your eyes for glasses are doctors of optometry. Here in Mexico, that is not the case. I remained in treatment for 6 weeks seeing the ophthalmologist weekly. Not only was this an expensive mistake; it was a painful one. I am lucky there was no permanent damage from this contamination and injury.
2. Prices in the store vary greatly as the imported goods are quite expensive but the paper goods are as well priced in the bulk packaging as they are in the states.
3. A young woman standing behind us in the line asked if we would take her birthday balloons and gas through on our card and we said of course. At that point, a woman approached us and began to aggressively lecture this girl that she needed to go in and get her own membership. My daughter replied that this was fine with us and did not concern. Apparently, this same woman had been horrible to the man standing behind us and he intervened. I said we were together, her balloons were coming through with our things and I was going to report her rudeness to corporate and asked her name. At that point, she just left us. The worst part was this young girl with the birthday items was shaking as a result of the ugliness and intimidation. We were stunned that a person like that would be out front accessible to customers.
4. They had a nice selection of wines but I haven't had the chance to compare with anything else in the area.
5. I don't think SC provides for the Oaxacan community what it does for the American community which is the lowest prices on everything and I do think they have to do something radical about their use of Devlyn for their in house opticals. There is more to buying a pair of glasses which I am sure they can accomplish, in terms of safety and welfare of the customers read more
