My husband is staying at the hotel across the street and we ate here 2 days in a row (because of location to the hotel) both visits were so amazing! Mercedes is awesome and John is awesome. The first night he had the prime rib the second night the ribeye. I had the redfish the first night and the chicken breast the second night. We tried the rattlesnake bites which my husband was obsessed with. The wedge salad is bomb!!! Sweet potato fries were bomb!!! We tried the appetizer of beef tenderloin bites- husband loved them but I felt they were chewy. The mozzarella sticks were seriously the best mozz sticks I have ever had! Been to this place several times. It's always our go-to when attending the Dallas Pen Show. If you're staying at the DoubleTree across the street, this will be pretty much your only restaurant option within walking distance. I love their wedge salad, and I always get the filet. The hostess with the bad wig who was working at 4 pm on October 13th has zero customer service skills. I walked in with a coworker to order food to go and she didn't greet us although she saw us as we walked in. I asked for a menu and she rolled her eyes, handed us the menu and began laughing. I enjoyed a filet cooked perfectly at a medium rare temperature. It was accompanied with a salad and potatoes. We went for steak and 3 of the 5 were over cooked. The 2 that weren't were requested as well done. The kids corn dogs were burnt so much they had caved in. Not once but twice and we're served with cold fries! My loaded mashed potatoes waited at the kitchen window so long it created a little moat on the serving dish. When the manager finally came over he stated that's the way they separate, that it was not sitting out long. However, our table was positioned right across from the window and we saw our food sitting there and tried to ask if that was ours and couldn't get anyone's attention. After communicating that to him he then tried to make it right. It was a Monday evening btw not a busy weekend. The server was a really nice kid but he was definitely new. I ordered the bone-in ribeye. The mash potatoes were very good, seasoned just right. The steak was a bit dry, could have been better with more moisture, it also shows on the corners. Flavor wise a bit too salty. Probably medium rare would be better than medium. Please cook the food. We don't go there often and I can see why. I ordered my steak medium well. Since no one checked before bringing it out, all I got was a cold bloody piece of meat, slightly brown around the edges. Our server never once came over to check on the quality of food. We were a party of 10 and she only looked after the opposite end of the table from where I was sitting. When she took my plate she asked if I wanted a box I said no, it was raw and cold as in not cooked, not even close. Yes many Texans eat steak this way, I do not. I order the small filet with house salad and baked sweet potato. They brought my bread and a large draft beer. My beer was ice cold and I waited to start the bread until my salad came the salad can ice cold and was crisp and the blue cheese dressing is delish. I chowed it down to till the bowl was empty. My steak came about 15 minutes later. I ordered it med-rare and it was a bit closer to rare but I had no complaints. It was so good. My baked sweet potato was huge with plenty of butter. I cleaned my plate again. My server, a very tall black man was attentive and was on top of his tables. Five thumbs up to him. The atmosphere is ok. I went to the Saltgrass Galleria in Dallas, and the first night was very, very disappointed and shared my disappointment with the stores GM via email. I was so angry at our first night's experience that I wasn't willing to give a second chance to this restaurant, although I would still go to other restaurants that were salt grass. The regional manager contacted me after my email directly on my phone. She wanted to make everything right. Her name was Kathy, and she did a really great job at making sure that our next experience would be different and hopefully better. The next experience was great service was excellent, food was excellent. They were timely, not having our food sit in the window and the restaurant made it right...100%. I go to Saltgrass quite often as I entertain customers at the Lewisville location close to my office. Tonight I took my wife to the Farmers Branch location off of LBJ , we go there from time to time. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and it came out very well done, when I ask the bar tender Mia who was very nice and did a great job BTW could she get me another?, she said she would call the manager. Karen the manager came out and told me they had (2) prime rib's left and they normally cook them medium and was in my opinion very rude and had a bad attitude. She was not nice at all and had an attitude like that's the way it is so you are screwed because they don't have what I ordered. Okay so the bread was really good. As far as everything else, we were severely disappointed. Service was just not good but it was late and I can't imagine being a server. So we let that pass. We ordered two salads. The server wasted dressing everywhere and said sorry and just handed them over leaving huge mess. The salad itself was so full of water the dressing made lettuce soup. We ordered two steaks with potatoes. After about 20 min we were told they only had one left. So I said I'll take it with just butter. When the food came out, the potato was loaded and the steaks were cold. I let the server know and they miraculously found a new potato. It came back out and the potatoes were not cooked all the way. Soft in the middle and crunchy starch on the sides. The manager took off the potatoes ... we were left with soupy salad and cold well done steaks. He did give us a free appetizer card which is appreciated. They will be donated because we don't eat any of their options. I'll never be back to this location or probably any Saltgrass again. Service is horrendous!!!! A small group of coworkers (5) and I dinned here yesterday. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrees upon being greeted by our server Blessings. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to come out, and an additional 15 for our appetizers to arrive. I watched our apps sit in the window for over 10 minutes and once they arrived they were cold and with missing items. Less than 4 mins later, before I could even send my app back to be reheated & corrected...our entrees came. I asked our server to reheat the app and hold on the entree until I could at least BEGIN the appetizer, he looked at me like I was crazy. Once we got the appetizer back another 8 mins later, it was warm..but now with no chips. My other friends had began eating their entrees with missing items just to get the experience over with because at this point we were there for at least an hour waiting and frustrated. The restaurant was not busy might I add, but our server was flustered and no one was helping him. My app got cold once again, and after asking for chips for the second time I just sent it back and asked for my entree. I was shocked that after all these issues we had to call a manger over, rather than having one come to us. This establishment has a lot of work to do. read more
