Loved the chill vibe of this restaurant and the food is good! Dogs are welcome in their backyard patio, which was really spacious and low key. We ordered the lamb meat balls, chef's veggie selection, focaccia bread, fried chicken sandwich, sparkling cherry juice. The cherry juice is a really good non-alcoholic selection. The lamb meat balls didn't look like they would be good but they were. All the food was yummy. Lots of flavor. I'd definitely come back.

First, it takes a lot for me to leave a bad review. And since I hate doing so, I have read all of the owners' retort to prior low reviews and can say that it was not the "first night" of our servers occupation there, nor was it "busy" - at all. It was very busy on our first visit two nights prior and while the service wasn't good (at all), we didn't feel the need to review it. But tonight... its just inexcusable and crazy to me that an establishment wants to treat people poorly for no reason at all. Especially considering that we had just eaten here two nights prior, being served almost $200 worth of food on napkins, and ignored that significant inconvenience. (When we asked for plates, we wondered if we were in the wrong by their response, LOL) We loved the cider and the atmosphere, and since it was close to where we are staying, we decided as a family that the food was good enough to return tonight and tomorrow. We made our reservation for 7:00 earlier in the day, arrived five minutes prior, and were seated by a young girl in a Phoebe Bridgers tee. The area that we were sitting in was surprisingly not busy, and there were several tables that were on their way out. We sat. And we sat. And we sat some more. The person that we *think* was our waitress walked by us no less than ten times and looked away from our table each time she passed. I figured she wasn't our server during those moments because of her utterly standoffish behavior. After about 15 minutes, my Husband mentioned that they were too busy to send a server our way and offered to order our ciders at the bar. I agreed that was an acceptable option because it was uncomfortable sitting there while two servers continued to look at each other and walk past us repeatedly. When he reached the bar, the friendly bartender asked him if we had a table outside. He answered that we did but could not tell her a table number as we are patrons, not employees. At that moment, the other waitress ran into the back to tell someone what was going on, and my husband was told that they would bring our drinks to us. Several minutes passed, and the person I had initially thought was our waitress brought our drinks to us and was extremely rude and put out. She asked us if they were our drinks, and when we answered yes, she smirked and cut me off when I told her why we went to the bar to order the drinks. She again cut me off to ask if we also ordered food (when we ordered the drinks... AT THE BAR), and I was so shocked at this point that I told her we would enjoy our drinks and consider if we would order. She then told me to give her my menu (which I obliged, again in shock at this behavior) and left. During this time, we witnessed her checking out several other tables that hadn't had food service in our time there, and my teenage daughter and I both. had uncomfortable encounters with her staring us down and giving us looks. Another jovial server in a yellow tank top came by to fill our water, and we were hopeful that someone had seen what was happening and replaced her as our server. We were willing to work with ANYONE else because it was nearing 8 pm. Alas, she was helping fill our water, and our original unfriendly server returned after about twenty minutes to ask if we wanted anything to eat after she had taken our (unmemorized) menus. I told her that we had decided we were done, and she asked if we were sure. We reiterated that we were ready to go and were met with a cheery "Ok then," - which was even more of a smack in the face because it furthered our feelings of not being wanted in the establishment. She returned with our tab and told us she had given us a "little discount" for us "being missed," and at that point, it just felt like more snark. Sadly her name was "Night Shift," so we don't have a reference for a name but want to thank her for ultimately sending us to Oystercatcher, which we had entirely dismissed over shoddy reviews about "price" that was completely inconsequential, as the service was STELLAR. So much so that I almost fainted when our server told us she was 17 because she was running circles around the large crowds there. Disclaimer: Pictures are from our experience Saturday- as proof that we did indeed patronize this establishment.

This place is always so good to us. Definitely a priority visit when we are on the island. The outdoor dining renovations that they have done are stunning, and you are destined to find a drink that you love when you're here. The staff have been so quick to accommodate our parties of 7-8 people when we have visited. Also, they love our puppies. Great job SSWC! Will be back very soon.

This cider is what all cider should taste like. The service is always friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. Even when they are slammed with tourists, these people have nothing but smiles and patience. The location is stunning and pairs perfectly with your cider. Rain or shine, sit outside! The food menu looks great but sadly we had just eaten lunch. The cheese plate I never had will haunt me.

    Full flight with 9 tastings

We loved this place! It was our first trip to SSI a couple weeks ago and a friend had recommended SSWC to us. The 'cider place' as we like to call it, was pretty close to our airbnb so we decided to check it out on our first day. They have a great setting to order their full flight both times - consisting of 9 nine tasters. There are picnic tables with umbrellas surrounding the back area of the store/restaurant/paying area. There are also some tables inside as well if you're not into sitting outside. We had no issues finding a table outside both times. Once entering the store, you order the amount of flights you want (full or half) and the worker will describe each cider. My favourite was the elderberry/elderflower cider. On the sweeter side. Light and crisp. My husband and I shared many other favourites including the bitter orange rosemary (which we bought a bottle of to bring home!), pear, one with hopps, dry, semi-dry. We liked most and really opened our eyes to cider as we've never ordered it or gave it ANY attention before! I huge recommendation here. Would come back every time.

Potato salad: reminds me of my mom's recipe: a German rendition, with lots of fresh, seasonable vegetables and flavours: excellent!

Amazing. Seriously. On a warm, sunny late afternoon, with a gorgeous breeze, Wild Cider can help melt away any aches and pain you might have. An easy drive from the ferry, and not far from the town of Ganges, Wild Cider was our first stop when we got to town. We had a sampling of their food options. The meatballs and potato salad were favorites. I've already decided that we'll try the cheese plate when we next visit. Everything was delicious, fresh tasting, and well presented. I wasn't wild about the chorizo, but did enjoy the artichokes that came with them. And the ciders ... mmmmm!! Pear and elderflower were among my favorites, but I enjoyed many of the flight that we sampled. I'd recommend trying all that they offer so you can find the ones that you enjoy the most. My partner loved the ginger cider too.

10 glass flight - UM YES PLEASE! I've never seen so many glasses in a single flight in my life, how cool! For $20 you get to try ten different tasters which actually comes out to being cheaper than the bottles themselves. This cidery is adorable and has an exceptional outdoor space. Lots of large picnic tables perfect for a big group or a couple. My bf and I shared the $20 flight as you must have it with someone (that is their only rule) as most would feel a wee bit wobbly after it. The ciders were delish, the tequila one was bizarre but love the uniqueness of it. Loved the hoppy cider! Perfect taste combo of beer and cider in one.The staff was knowledgeable as they poured the flights and excited about the product which is always a great sign. They do have food and had my bf and I not just had amazing pizza at the cheesery we totally would have indulged in their charcuterie boards. Highly recommend stopping here if you find yourself on Salt Spring!

If you enjoy sipping cider by the sea shore this cider stop is a great activity to enhance your afternoon. Located on the beautiful salt spring island it overlooks the local orchard. I had a flight of 5 ciders to share. My favorite was the elderberry. The bottles are easy to reuse for other drinks when you are done too! You can also buy their wild ciders in other liqerstores distributed to the mainland. At the shop they also have nibbles great for sharing if you get hungry.

The first night my wife and I had scallops for appetizers and herb crusted Wild pacific salmon for the entrees. Their fish were cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were an enhancement as opposed to a dominating force. The second night I had escargot and my wife had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both loved our appetizers. The shepherds pie was good although I found the cheese on top of the mashed potatoes was neither necessary nor authentic, but it was still quite good. My wife had the duck confit which she liked very much. The ambiance is one of a country English cottage which felt cozy and warm and the servers were personable and solicitous without hovering. I'm guessing as good as most of the restaurants in town (Hastings House lies just outside the main strip).

Started out with lobster bisque (with a good amount of lobster) and a dozen snails (chef slipped a couple extra!) in a marvelous garlic butter and Parmesan sprinkled over all. Then for entree we enjoyed a wonderfully prepared Herb Crusted Wild Pacific Red Snapper With Creamy Parmesan Polenta, Basil Pesto. I enjoyed the Pan-Seared Nova Scotia Deep Sea Scallops on a fresh bed of lettuce mix and greens. So definitely a restaurant to try but you'll want to plan staying a night or two given they are on an island off the Vancouver island! Rooms are great also with some placed in cabins with views making you feel like you're in a tree house amongst the pines.

We skipped straight to entrees and enjoyed the salmon and steak specials, both just under $30. Loved that you can order wine in 6oz, 9oz, or half litre, but if they're going to have a steak special they need a Cabernet or a claret by the glass, something more full-bodied than the Malbec. Salmon had an interesting horseradish-flavored sauce that made for a good balance with the fish. "Greens" turned out to be a salad: lettuce and sprouts with dressing, not cooked greens. My steak came out medium well not medium rare, but they replaced it, no problem. It was a busy Saturday night and every restaurant we've been to on this trip seems to be having problems finding staff. Mashed potatoes were fantastic. Just the right amount of cream and butter (a lot, according to my wife) and with a bit of skin to make the perfect texture. The portion was large but I could have kept eating these til I popped. We had no room for dessert (unless more mashed potatoes were an option). Outdoor seating was what most everyone opted for, although the indoor dining room seats looked very comfortable. Tables outside were appropriately distanced and the garden is well landscaped to provide a beautiful buffer from the street. Wish our catmint would grow as well! Hats off to the gardener.
