I wish the consome was a bit stronger in flavor, but the birria tacos were a perfect combo of crispy and juicy. Buuuut the lengua tacos were the real star of the show. The lengua was tender, soft, melted in your mouth, and had an amazing flavor profile. Topped with some of their lime and salsa, and it was even better. The dud of the bunch was the carne asada fries. Coming from San Diego, I've had way better carne asada fries, and these were a flop comparatively. It's a large portion size, if you care, but I'd rather spend money on more tacos.

The quesabirria is absolutely phenomenal: crispy, cheesy, dripping with flavor, and paired with rich consommé that makes every bite better than the last. It's usually packed with customers, which should be your first clue that you're in the right place. Just know going in--this is not fast food. The wait times can be long, so don't come here in a hurry. Come hungry, be patient, and trust the process. If you're willing to wait, you'll be rewarded with some seriously delicious tacos that live rent-free in your head afterward. Worth it.

Cute little place on the corner to rest, have a drink and enjoy chips and salsa…read more The chips were crisp and warm. The salsa was tasty and had just the right amount of flavor for my tastes, as I don't like real spicy foods. I am glad I only ordered one breakfast taco, as they were generous in size and ingredients. I enjoyed sitting outside and having a pineapple mimosa and a light breakfast with my daughter. Great service and very reasonably priced too.

Went here on a recommendation friend. Sit down at the bar. Order a Paloma, it's mostly soda and ice, can't even taste a hint of liquor. Order the "quesabirria" tacos with consomme. Apparently there is more than one version of birria here. Menu doesn't specify if it is beef or goat, it was definitely beef. The tacos are small, and they're fried in oil. Cotija cheese, cilantro, and onions on top of the tacos, like a tostada. So this is not the way birria tacos are prepared, this is just a regular shredded beef taco. The consommé is not beef broth, which the birria meat is supposed to be boiled in. The consommé is just liquified beef fat with cilantro and onions inside. The other "birria" tacos are the same thing, but soft shell lightly grilled with red salsa. This was very surprising. Not the way that traditional birria is prepared. The scene looks nice and inviting, but it is small. The outdoor bar seating facing the street is cool. Ok aside from those points, the tacos were alright. The beef wasn't juicy but it wasn't dry. The melted cheese was really not present. The cotija cheese doesn't belong on this dish. And the cilantro and onions belong inside, along with some lime and a true consommé to dip it in. The tacos should've been fried in the consommé, that is how it is prepared. Not terrible being far from home, so back to the hub in SoCal for the best.
