I love their work, but it is a little too dear for my lowly bureaucrat budget. I was a little apprehensive about NYFB at first because I am not a sports guy. Fortunately, the young person who did my fades is well-versed in superhero comics. It was such a relief not being forced to pretend to follow the theatrics of genetically superior specimens. I tipped excessively and plan to go back often.

When I first moved to Ottawa I tried a handful of different barber shops and wasn't sold on any of…read morethem. When a friend told me about Ernesto's, I went in and never looked back. This place is perfect (minus the somewhat limited hours). They have three barbers working most of the time, and even on a Saturday, the wait is never more than about 15 minutes. Ernesto gives me my favorite cut, but all three barbers are top notch. The best part, it is only $16 (including tax). It is cash only, so make sure to bring some extra money for a tip. Parking can be a little bit dificult in the Glebe. I'd walk if you can. If not, try to pair your hair cut with your grocery shopping at Whole Foods and they will validate for you.

I got the hair cut I wanted first time in the shop The price is $16 for a men's cut in Jan 2017. This is a great price for downtown. There is one other shop on Elgin Street that will cut for this price, but service here is better. I paid $25 for the same haircut a block away. Even out in the "burbs" by my apartment the price is still over $16. This shop includes the hot, straight razor neck shave at the end as well. No appointments, which suites me. My office is close and I can drop in over my lunch break depending on my schedule. If there is a lineup, I come back another day. Went just after new years and the place was empty, Talking to Patrick I learnd he co-owns the shop with his female partner (his wife?) and has run it for a number of years. Apparently the physical location has been a barbershop since 1920. It's his business so he cares about the quality of his work and service, which I like. He also won't talk your ear off if you don't want to gab. Wheel chair access is impossible directly from the street (maybe through the building?) The shop is located in the basement, down a half flight of stairs. I will be going there regularly from now on I think.

Two barbers run the place, one guy and one girl, and I've used both multiple times with great success. Either barber can give a great haircut well with minimal direction, "a bit shorter and cleaned up" or with detailed instructions. Each haircut ends with a straight razor to clean up your sideburns and neck (but they won't do shaves) and the price is a very reasonable $16 (cash only but there are ATMs at the bank across the street). Ottawa is a town with a ton of barbers, and I've tried a good number of them, but I keep coming back to Victoria's. The only thing to keep in mind is they don't take appointments so when you walk in you could be in for a wait if it is busy.

She kept asking me "Who cut your hair?". We would go on and fall in love with one another because of my amazing haircut. Ros was so good that I started to suspect the love of my life was only dating me for my barber. I would later find out that she was only dating me to get closer to him. She did end up leaving me for Ros' amazing skills, but I honestly can't blame her. He's just that good. I made this story up but Ros really was great. 5/5 . Two thumbs up!
