We had a very large maple tree in our backyard that had many dead branches surrounded by a fence, koi pond, and an out building and Salas Tree Service trimmed that tree with surgical precision. No damage done to anything in the backyard. And we got the lowest quote from them after receiving 3 from local tree service companies. So low in fact we added a cypress tree in the front yard that needed a major trimming also. The guys that came out were very respectful of our property, efficient, and did a great cleanup afterwards. This is the 2nd time I used Salas Tree Service during the last 3 years. I have a big American Elm tree that again needed many large limbs removed that were hanging too close or making contact with my roof. Joaquin came to the house promptly, estimated the work involved, negotiated a price and scheduled a workday to fit our schedule even though the work did not require us to be home. The crew arrived promptly on the day and starting time as discussed and worked just under 4 hours which included balancing large limb removal for tap root stability, all smaller limb cleanup with chipping, plus hand raking of even smaller limbs and leaves. Salas Tree Services removed two trees, one with the stump and trimmed 3 trees on my property. They did a fantastic, professional job in a short time. They cleaned up perfectly too. When I showed my boyfriend their work, he was confused because he didn't even remember I had an entire 45+ ft tree there the other day! That's how good they were-you couldn't see a trace of the tree!!! Also, their price seemed pretty fair. I got 3 other quotes and while they weren't the cheapest, they seemed to be the best value in terms of quality for the money. Also, one company I called said that they couldn't even do the job on my property because it was too difficult, but for Salas it was no problem! They also seem to take great pride in their work. The man's name I dealt with mostly is Joaquin. This person is a con man. We negotiated service verbally and a generic invoice was created that lacked detail itemization. When we initially negotiated and agreed upon service needed and price for said service, we agreed that two trees would be trimmed (including removing all dead, separated limbs and removing any limbs over the roof of the house and over the street) and one removed with a stump grinding. When I returned home after the service was complete, I found one tree removed with a large pile of mulch left where the tree once stood, one tree was trimmed almost bare and the third tree only had branches removed that were over the roof of the house. I called Salas Tree Service and spoke with a kindly woman and I asked her if they were planning on returning to finish the third tree as it seemed they didn't do all work agreed upon on this tree. Joaquin calls me and says he would like to come visit me at my home so I can explain the issue. Immediately upon confrontation with Joaquin, be was very aggressive with me as if he was upset that I was disappointed with him and his work. He proceeded to claim that we never agreed on trimming limbs away from over the street and that he actually did the third tree for free. This is not true as it was written in the invoice," Trimming of 2 tree in front yard." The comparison of the trimming of the two trees is outstandingly different. Joaquin tried to tell me if I wanted him to trim this tree to what we initially agreed upon, I would have to pay him an additional $2000. This is pretty much the definition of exploitation. This initial invoice was already for $2400 for," Trimming of 2 tree in front yard." Joaquin then exclaims," If you don't want to pay me, then don't." I never once mentioned I didn't plan on paying the invoice. I even continued to tell him," I want to you pay, I just want you to perform the service we agreed upon." I told him I didn't want to argue with him anymore and that I didn't appreciate his hostility in front of me and my family. I told him if he would just please remove the large, dead, separated, barely hanging, limbs that could fall and possibly hit someone at any moment, then I would be satisfied enough to pay the invoice. This was the whole reason I hired a tree service company in the first place because my homeowners' insurance wouldn't allow this. Joaquin then stormed off and got into his truck and left. I got a call from the kindly woman from Salas and she told he Joaquin would return to remove the limbs I pointed out to him which he actually tried to knock down himself when he was still at my house with a rope. Two days after he returned and removed the branches I pointed out to him, a storm came through and knocked down several large, dead branches that were hanging that I must not have seen. I had to clean these branches up myself. At this point I feel as if I paid for service I did not receive and I am doing the work I paid someone to do. Also, I my neighbors have told me they were watching the crew work on my trees and one neighbors told me I have an eyewitness to them dropping a branch that was cut from the tree directly onto my roof that was approximately 1.5 feet in diameter and made a loud enough thud that it was heard across the street and two houses down. Also, another neighbor has provided me with video proof of them cutting and dropping 2-3 feet in diameter sections of the tree that was removed directly onto my lawn from about 20-30 feet up. This created large divots in my lawn. They also drove their crane truck into my yard to do this and that also created deep trails in my yard. This has made it difficult to mow and I now have to figure out how to level out my yard back. Also, one of their company vehicles was parked in my driveway and leaked oil and left an oil spot in my driveway. Therefore, not only did they take advantage of a verbal agreement and get more money out of me for less work, they also damaged my property, including my roof, my lawn, and my driveway. read more
