Haven't been here in a while as I'm not often in Iona. Was pleased this week to get take out this weekend. I have to say the food was excellent, large portions and everything very well packaged. The staff is always pleasant as it appears to be owner/family operated. The bone in ribs were tender and flavorful. The steamed dumplings were nicely packaged and flavorful. I'm a fan of Moo Goo Gai Pan and it's well prepared with plenty of white meat chicken and veggies. If you're in this part of town this is worth a try. First time in Sakura Chinatown, even though I've previously worked in that plaza, as well as having looked at the menu but never ordered. I'd like to rate this place 4 stars, but I'm sorry the label prohibits me from doing so (I wish Yelp would have a better name system) Yes, the place deserves 4 stars. It was clean, the servers were respectful and the food was hot, but "I'm a fan!" needs a couple more times to go. Three people for lunch on a Saturday, all getting the $7.50 lunch special (soup, pork fried rice, protein). Unfortunately, no substitutions allowed (egg roll in place of rice, for those who want to cut back on the starch for example). But if you want something that comes with the meal, there's either the added charge or just get the dinner version (comes with). All meals were different, except two people got hot and sour soup while the third got wonton. Both hot and sour soup eaters thought the soup was better than any place visited in Fort Myers. Wonton soup was filling prior to eating the main meal. Interesting thing about the soups: you get a bowl of triangle shaped fried noodles with dipping sauce brought to you when you order the soup. Automatic. Sometimes you have to ask in places if you can have it. Main meals - - Szechuan Beef had a slight after kick where all of a sudden a tissue was needed. - Sesame chicken had all the right flavors and enough of it to take home. - Cashew chicken was the right mix of nuts, chicken and vegetable that the plate wasn't overloaded with too much of one and not enough of the other. Flavors mixed well together. Pork fried rice was airy and not too filling, as everyone ended up eating most of their meals. One person doesn't like a lot of rice as it is, so they always ask if a substitution can be made. Since you can't take one off and add another, the rice was left. The person ended up eating most of it, saying this was the best rice they've had in a very long time. All together, only a couple scraps were left on each plate, minus the person who took their sesame chicken home. Cleanliness for the restaurant: There might have been 2 other parties in the building, but every table had been dressed and ready for customers. Place mats, rolled silverware, condiments, - hand sanitizer - (yes on every table)... but let me back track: cloth napkins with silverware! In the times of people worrying about getting sick and going to restaurants! That was nice to see - they're still offering a service you'd expect pre-Covid. I brought that up to one of the people in my party, and they raised a good point: with some of the food you might order from Sakura (like any of the chicken wing or beef on a stick items), it's hard to have paper napkins. It gets a bit messy. Yea, that's true. It's easier for the napkins to be laundered and the silver to be washed than to worry about clogging the planet with more throwaway stuff. Even the cups were reusable. Too bad the straws weren't. It's okay though - fair is fair! We would go again, for sure, because it definitely surprised us... in a good way. We haven't had great luck finding any type of Asian restaurant since moving to the area (in 2011), and this might be one of the new ones to keep trying. read more

We were shopping at Big Lots and happened to see sign for Chinese food when we were exiting the parking lot..Wife and I haven't had Chinese in a while so we decided to go in, glad we did! It is very clean, reminds me old Chinese restaurants years ago with red velvet look w dragons, very cool. We sat down got served right away.. I started w Hot and Sour soup..it was excellent, the best i have had in SWFL and many other places, full of all the goodies in soup... Been here several times over the past few months. There are two sections. One is for sushi and one is for hibachi. I have only gone here for sushi, although the hibachi side of the restaurant always seems to be very busy. From my own experience, I can confirm that the sushi is very fresh and delicious. Some of my favorite rolls are spicy tuna, fried shrimp, yellowtail, the volcano roll, and the Mexican roll. I also enjoy their sashimi. My favorites being the tuna and yellowtail with rice. They have many specialty alcoholic beverages along with the myriad of staple well drinks. They also have a nice selection of bottled beers. I usually go with their sweet tea which is a real thirst quencher. The staff is extremely welcoming and attentive. I've never felt forgotten about at this restaurant. They are happy to accommodate special requests as well. *** Bathrooms are very clean. The average cost per couple is about $75 before tip. For that, we usually get about 4 or 5 rolls, 4 sashimi, a couple of beers, and two non-alcoholic beverages. I find this to be on par with other local sushi restaurants. I have enjoyed the food on every visit and would highly recommend checking them out if you enjoy quality sushi. My family and I came here for a late lunch/early dinner after a day at Sanibel Island. We were seated and served immediately as it wasn't too busy. We were given complimentary litte sweet crisps (not sure what they are called) with duck sauce, which was super thick and syrupy. I ordered the general tso's chicken and shared with my mother. I've pretty much given up on finding flavorful Chinese food in this neck of the woods. Decided to try the hibachi offerings to take home. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We shared the shrimp with sea scallops hibachi combo. It comes with the usual hibachi vegetables and fried rice, as well as clear soup. Very enjoyable, and will definitely be back. My husband and I ordered takeout from here for the first time last week. I've been wanting to try it cause my dad told me it was good. I very pleasantly surprised. We ordered the chicken lo-mein which was a big portion, and the orange chicken combo dinner with pork fried rice as well as egg rolls. The chicken was very good. I was very impressed. Highly impressed by this place, I ordered take out on a whim from their website. I got the steak & shrimp hibachi along with some yum yum sauce and I was not disappointed. I showed up about 20 minutes after my order was to be ready and the young boy behind the counter asked if I was there to pick up my food. I walked out seconds later with my food eager to try it at home. When I got home I unwrapped the food to find a hot & fresh looking meal inside, and once I started eating it was indeed hot, fresh, and awesome.
