Built in the 13th century by Louis IX, at the heart of the Palais de la Cité, Sainte-Chapelle is renowned for its stained-glass windows. Originally constructed to house the relics of the Passion of Christ a visit in 2026 now costs $26USD for what amounts to roughly one room, but even despite ongoing renovations the scene is breathtaking.

Saint-Chappelle was a quick 10 minute walk over from Notre Dame, so if you're visiting you can plan back to back trips there for efficiency. They are known for their stained glass windows. Back in ancient times, the upper levels were reserved for royalty and the kind and the lower level was for the palace staff. This portrayed the divine authority of medieval kings. We didn't make it in due to the long lines, but we did a quick walk by and admired the exterior.

A MUST SEE!!!! Literally one of the most stunning places I've seen. I recommend seeing a concert through Classictic INSIDE the church as we did. We visited in the morning with crowds and returned for the concert in the evening. We were able to SIT for over an hour, listening to classical music, while marveling at the stained glass with no rush.

Sure, it doesn't have the scale of Notre Dame or Basilique du Sacre Coeur, but the massive stained glass windows really takes this royal chapel to the next level. Depicting familiar Biblical scenes like Genesis, the Life of Ezekiel, and the Passion of Christ, the windows take up almost the entire nave and apse of the upper level of the chapel. They date back to the middle of the 13th century, and the sunlight deepens the blues and reds dramatically. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the lower chapel is handsome in a more traditional way with a low, 22-foot-high ceiling, gilded flying buttresses, and smaller stained glass windows. The Gothic architecture seen from the outside is also worth admiring. Given the size of the space, it evokes a peaceful ambiance even with the crowds. Speaking of which, we bought tickets a couple of days in advance, 25€ per person in combination with the Conciergerie nearby. RELATED - Exploring Paris? We were excited to check mark this experience off our travel bucket list. Sainte-Chapelle is known for its beautiful tall 13th century intricately designed stained glass windows and gothic architecture. We were craning my neck just trying to get a full view of the windows. The room felt small with all of the foot traffic around. My photography got really creative as I tried to avoid extras in the shot. There's a reservation slot of 30 minutes. Self-guided tour usually takes around 45 minutes. I highly recommend their purchasing through their online ticket website and booking the earliest time possible. We did the self-guided tour and had a great experience. We visit the lower chapel and the upper chapel. We took our time with the tour and didn't feel rushed. The upper chapel where the tall stained glass windows and altar are in the 2nd floor which required some stairs. The lower chapel also features some stained glass, textured walls, and some statues. I recommend bringing a wide angle lens for the photo opportunities.

Hard to admit but I was in fact a little underwhelmed with this attraction After having been to numerous churches/cathedrals all over the world I had such high expectations on this place and having missed visiting this on previous visits to Paris I finally got a shared ticket with the Conciergerie There were long long lines so I'd recommend getting a ticket in advance that line was super fast as they have timed entries Even after getting in it was crowded so you couldn't see much and the only nice part was the stained glass area upstairs It was very hot and not much to learn about That said obviously the stained glass is beautiful just I expected more

We had timed tickets; however we still had to wait in line for quite a while. There are multiple different lines depending on if you have a ticket and what time your ticket is for. Definitely make sure you are in the correct line. I will say, we were in line longer than the time we spent inside Sainte-Chapelle. Not to say that it's not worth it, but it is small. Once you enter, there's souvenir shopping. The main area is upstairs which you have to take stairs up to. The stained glasses were beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice.

Please be sure to buy tickets in advance for this. Also, make sure that you get to the que 10 to 15 minutes before your slot time at least because the lines do get very long. Their queuing system is also not very organized. Example, we were in line with people who were slotted for earlier time slots however they did not hear the announcement because the guards just yelled out loud the time frames from the front of the line. You're supposed to make your way up through the line of people who are slotted for other times to get to the front and then once you get to the front if you don't get there with sufficient enough time the guard will make you wait and then you'll have to go in with the next timeslot. Once inside, it is dreamy and the history behind it was very interesting. You can also couple it with the concierge where Maria Antoinette was kept before she was killed. That museum is also very well done and very interactive.

The most beautiful stained glass windows I've ever seen. Saint Chapelle is a gorgeous historic landmark worth visiting! Make a reservation ahead of time online to skip the line, it's included on the Paris Museum Pass which made our entry incredibly quick. We spent about 30 mins here to enjoy the stained glass windows. Another must-see landmark in Paris!

So with Notre Dame still being restored, the nearby smaller Sainte-Chappelle is seeing a lot more foot traffic. And so it should - I would definitely visit this lovely gothic chapel even after Notre Dame is fully restored. Sainte-Chappell is a jewel and its breathtaking interior is a jewel-box. It won't take you long to view its two floors but you'll linger for a while to take in its beauty. Simply fabulous stained glass windows. Highly recommend it and a good value especially to combine ticket with the nearby Musee de la Conciergerie.

We had bought timed tickets, and got there a few minutes before our scheduled entrance time. Make sure you get in the correct line as there are three lines going in, those for the top of the hour, those for the bottom of the hour, and those with no pre-purchased tickets. Our line move very quickly, however, going through security was a bit hairy. They are very rude and instead of making things go quicker. I think their rudeness ended up making things more difficult for everyone to go through . But once in we really enjoyed being able to see the windows. We went late in the afternoon to catch the afternoon sun, which I am told helps illuminate the windows better than in the morning. This is not a long stop, we were probably only inside for 20 minutes or so, but it's definitely a spectacular view of some beautifully made windows.

We pre-booked tickets with Musuem Pass for Sunday at 3. Most museum lines are pretty organized with 3 lines: ticket-holders with :00 time slot, ticket-holders with :30 time slot, and non ticket-holders. We got there at 2:30 since we finished lunch early and decided to just go there and wait. There wasn't even really a line for the non-ticket holders so when a group would line up, they would let them in first. Make no sense because we ended up having to wait to get in, even though we did the research and planned ahead of time to get the tickets. But at least this was just for the security line because once we got through that, we were able to go right in, whereas the non-ticket holders still had to wait in line to actually purchase the tickets. Once inside, the church is really beautiful. I've been to my fair share of European churches but I must say, nothing quite compares to this one with all the colors and elaborate patterns of the windows. It truly is a sight to see but there is really nothing beyond that. We were in and out in probably about 15 minutes. Still, I'd recommend giving it a visit if you're in Paris. You just don't need to arrive any earlier than your timed slot.

This beautiful artistic chapel is a MUST see place in Paris. Its good to get tickets online in advance but even the without tickets the line goes pretty fast. The impressive part was the silence and there was even a person responsible to shish you if you are laughing or talking loud! Really enjoyed the beauty and it only need 30 min to visit this place‍

Crowds linger on the steps and around the overlook areas. The choir and first bay of the Chapel of the Virgin date from the 14th Century and the porch and Nabe from the 15th Century.
