I had to Google it to find the real name. Located directly behind Bardstown old jailhouse which is now jailhouse inn a bee and breakfast joint. If you follow the ally next to the inn you will walk right into this place. Very small but beautiful landscaping and who knows how old some of these graves are. Most of them have no names or writing on them at all and they are spread out in a random and sporadic order. Overall this is a really neat and fun discovery that's just another hidden gem on the historic Bardstown Kentucky downtown area.

He had purchased a picture for the back of the monument, but we never took one to be painted and placed. Years passed. I called the number from the original receipt and spoke to Evan who immediately started helping me take care of the issue. They credited the original amount paid on the new order and went right to work taking care of something they didn't have to do. There were issues with the original stone cut and finding a ceramic to fit, but they took care of it. We now have the sweetest picture completing my mom and dad's monument. The historical marker is in front of a strip mall that contains a veterinarian office and some other professionals. Between that and the fast food restaurant, you'll see a tall mound and at the top, a low stone wall. The marker is on two sides. On one, it reads, "This Hardin County native was one of Kentucky's most celebrated lawyers. In legislature 17 yrs.; rose to House Speaker. Elected lt. gov., he became governor when John J. Crittenden resigned, 1850. Pres. of L&N R.R., 1854-60, when railroad completed. A harsh critic of Presideny Lincoln, Helm favored neutrality for Kentucky in the Civil War. Elected governor 1867. Died after five days in office." And on the other, "This pioneer cemetery includes the graves of John LaRue Helm, who served two incomplete terms as Governor of Kentucky, and his son, Confederate Gen. Ben Hardin Helm, who fell at battle of Chickamauga, September 20, 1863. Gen. Helm and Abraham Lincoln married half-sisters, Emilie and Mary Todd, the daughters of Robert S. Todd of Lexington, Kentucky." The cemetery is at the top of the wall and the gate was open when I stopped by. This family cemetery is definitely well-maintained and contains a number of aged headstones and markers for the Helm family. She advised that she couldn't do what I thought was an easy thing but then explained why it wouldn't work & offered up another option. She was hesitant though since it was a jumpsuit. She pinned up the jumpsuit & asked me to try it on. I was pleased with it & she said she will do it & it might take a couple of weeks she took down my info & gave me my ticket. But by the following week, she called & text saying it was ready for pickup. I was able to try it on again & sit down in it to make there was enough room. It was perfect & I paid with cash ( exact change & tip) great service!
