If you take student safety as a priority it's a NO…read more Nice looking school with affordable tuition but what you save in money is not worth the trouble. My daughter's safety was in jeopardy by an unruly roommate that had no respect for herself let alone the other roommates. My daughter told her RA and the Residence Office that guys were coming into the room at all hours of the night "expecting to get some". In addition, this roommate would lash out both verbally and physically (on video no less and yes the school is aware) and the school did NOTHING about it. When my daughter asked to switch rooms, they made her go through hell and back and guilted her for not problem solving herself. They upset her so badly that she was visibly upset and her other roommate had to come to the office to get her to calm her down. She finished out the semester and transferred out. Not only did I file a Title IX sexual harassment report that they buried but they also put a sanction on her so that she couldn't transfer easily to another dorming college. This school is not free. I paid tuition for my daughter to be harassed by her roommate and then her school. Shame on you UTampa. No wonder the retention rate is so awful. For those parents that worry about their children away at school, this is not the school for your kid.

I have been a student at this campus for the last 2 semesters…read more It is much smaller than Tampa and seems to be more of a commuter campus. I love that the student body seems to be older than that of Tampa. I am 27 and when I was at Tampa campus, I was usually the oldest person in my class. Now, I am about the average age. The classes are also considerably smaller. In Tampa, I had classes with 200 other students in it. Now my biggest class had 70 and my smallest had 5. The professors are often adjunct in St Pete. This is really interesting because you have teachers who usually work and specialize in the material being taught. I feel this is much better than the grad student method of Tampa. As far as student involvement is concerned, they both have a large number of students in clubs and organizations. Many students work on the campus so things like the help desk and library are students that go there, too. There is also free tutoring that is run by students. It is an invaluable resource that is a part of your tuition. I suggest going anytime you have a question. The location is simply beautiful. It is located right on the water. There is a dock and a marina in the back of the school. Although the offices are a little hard to find, the campus is gorgeous. The staff all over campus in St Pete is MUCH more helpful and polite, though. Overall, I think St Pete suits me much better than Tampa.

It's in the heart of downtown St. Pete and has a gorgeous student center with large aquariums, comfy seating, and a cafeteria too. Upstairs they have large ballroom/conference areas great for large presentations like the film event I attended, but it can also be sectioned off into smaller portions which was what was done when I attended a guest lecture there that my professor for my Literature and Human Rights course (offered at Eckerd) highly recommended. My boyfriend now goes to USFSP to touch up his orgo-chem skills before going to grad school & his only complaint is parking; they have a large parking garage right across from campus, but it gets filled quick according to him. But he's enjoyed his professors so far and noted how small the orgo-chem labs are - only about 10 students so a great way to get hands on experience and attention.

Disclaimer: my criticism is directed entirely towards the dining hall…read more It is incredibly rare that i have a decent experience while dining here. I have fallen victim to food poisoning multiple times, options are slim, and it is very dirty. i once witnessed a worker wiping counter tops off with a dirty rag and then proceeding to wipe the top of a "clean" plate off with the same rag. if you must eat here, don't think too much about where your food comes from. additionally, the menu is brief and repetitive. it is difficult to find a healthy option and if you do, it takes a bit of innovation with the low quality ingredients you are given. the food that is served is insanely greasy and flavors are minimal. with the new dining hall just having opened, i certainly got my hopes up. i was very much let down. if anything, it is worse. the setup is entirely unplanned and inconvenient and while it looks there are more options, do not let that fool you. they omitted the waffle bar (a fan favorite) and they tend to falsely advertise the cereal. they always run out of necessities and fail to replace them. food is either undercooked or incredibly dry. they scam you by forcing you to be a part of the meal plan if you live on campus housing (at least your first year). this must be stopped. food is inedible and you will be spending your money on food elsewhere. we must take a stand against this. who's with me?

I accumulated some credits toward my undergrad degree at this university. It is a small college…read morewith a homey unpretentious feel, a satellite campus of Tampa. Almost brand new, very beautiful grounds right near the ocean, it might even be on the ocean but there is so much landscaping I am not sure, I think it is. Beautiful campus, easy to get in and out. The professors are laid back and the staff was cordial. I learned a lot here. Parking is super close and I felt safe taking night classes. It was great to leave class at 10 at night and feel a warm ocean breeze accompany me to my vehicle. Great fitness center and cute little cafe to grab a quick coffee or snack before class. Would recommend this college.

I will say I'm glad they gave us an address to the exact building but parking was not clear. You have to park in a paid parking lot which I thought was a little bit odd. The student ambassadors are all very informative and are willing to answer any questions you have along the way. They show you the major highlights around campus including one of the dorms. Classes are whatever - you're either taking something because you want to, or because you have to. Your personal review will reflect that. But as for the staff and all that stuff, this place is just fine. Parking is free (but only at this location), sometimes there are food trucks, and the staff is generally helpful enough. Being across from the high school means this place is filled with recent grads, so steel yourself for those kinds of conversations. Some highlights include "I don't need college, I'm joining the army when I turn 18" and "for all intensive purposes..." Tiny library, although the views are acceptable if you can hunker down by a window. Adjacent to lots of cow fields, so it's really damn hot and there are tons of love bugs. Rural Florida, baby!
