A local private school, tucked into a small corner of North Charleston, where you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it. However, this school is one of the best things to happen to our children in a long time (aside from having awesome parents). The teacher to student ratio is very low, so you know that your child is getting the attention that they need. This school is K-8, and tends to attract and serve those families who have children with special needs. Scholarship programs are available as well for families who qualify. A new principal this year is working hard with the school and community to ensure that SJCS becomes more in tune with the community and has done a lot of work to give the school a face lift over the summer. Parent involvement is high and activities are provided after school and on weekends, both for students and parents. Many children use this as a stepping stone to work their way in to local public schools, but several stay all the way through graduation to high school, and alumni often come back to help out in various ways. read more
