I love Unity's teachings, which are based on a positive, practical, and progressive approach to spirituality. They honor the universal truths in all religions and respect each person's right to choose their own spiritual path. I feel at home there!

Which sounds great. But if someone in your family receives a mental health diagnosis and you go to any of the pastors for help or prayer, they will essentially shun you or faze you out. All of those "connections" you have made, and any monetary contributions you give to the church won't matter because in their eyes, they have to protect their "brand". Your "friends" won't view you the same once this information get's out. There isn't support for this situation in CVC church. My family had to learn the hard way. It caused a lot of hurt. This church runs on how you present yourself and your family as well as how other people that attend this church perceive you. The church doesn't want acknowledge this type of situation. They want to avoid anything that may seem heavy or messy to them. This church thrives on fitting the mold. The "perfect" families, attendance, opportunities to get involved. This is intentional. My family, they are good people, who did everything "right" in the churches eyes, until they came for help. I wouldn't wish any of what we went through on someone else. I've kept quiet for a long time on this topic. I just feel that it is important for people to understand what we didn't.

The church is big with the main hall fitting about 350 people. Journey Church is a Christian non-denominational church with 3 locations. The first location is in Fairview Park. I enjoyed visiting the Avon location for church. I was greeted upon entering, then I went to the complimentary tea/coffee station and poured myself a cup of tea, then I went into the sanctuary to find a seat. The 12:30pm service that I attended was a great experience. Pastor Phil spoke with enthusiasm and gave Biblical examples. The praise and worship team played lively music. If you're looking for a church, you should visit Journey Church in Avon. They have plenty of groups (Bible study groups, singles groups, divorce care group, etc) - these groups will allow you to meet more people. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 80/250 total reviews in 2026 - 921 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 13 May 2026

The second time I went, I noticed that individuals went out to their way to say hello. The last time I attended, I was darn near ran out of the sanctuary by the loudness from the singing (summer 2026). Unfortunately, even the ear plugs didn't help. It felt as though the women were attempting to sing louder than one another. Worship is for the Glorification of Christ and not a place for showmanship or stardom. Overall, I like the church; however, the loudness of the singing is a little hard to take. Just wanted to close out on a positive note. Ladies, you have beautiful voices and I wasn't meaning to imply anything different. I just want us to be mindful of those in the audience and who they are trying to connect with during worship. When you sing or play an instrument too loudly during worship, it comes across as a rock concert with Christian music.
