It's fish and chips in a small town, so you usually know what you're going to get and if you're in for a straight up battered fish, chips and a potato cake/scallop (depending on where you're from!) then I don't think you'll be too disappointed.
Deviating from the standard fare on the other hand, I wouldn't recommend. I ordered grilled fish and was alarmed to be asked whether I wanted it with onion and tomato. Um...what!? I declined, opting for lemon and salt. What I got was what appeared to be steamed fish. No seasoning, with a slice of lemon. It was pretty awful. The fish cake thing was better as it was battered.
The burgers came out sloppy and both friends that ordered them tried to get half way through before giving up and declaring it too gross to finish.
The potato cakes were tasty, crispy and oily in a way that you want fried potato to be.
